Winter or early spring is also a good time to map out a garden design and figure out your timeline for preparing the garden beds and doing the all-important planting.

A new phone-in game appeared at Easter 1992 and remained a fixture for quite some time afterwards. It was devised and coded by BBC Special Projects and was called Maggot Moments. The star of the game, Mervyn the Maggot, was guided around a maze by callers shouting directions. The game ended when time ran out or when a marauding crow caught up with Mervyn, and prizes were awarded according to the number of apples munched during the game.

If you have loads of smaller tools and drill bits and you don’t really have room for an extra-large toolbox, you can just add a small magnetic strip to the wall or just wherever you have room. This strip will keep those drill bits perfectly organized and handy so that you can just grab one when you need it. If you have a tool bench, this is the perfect way to keep drill bits close at hand and out of the way. Via: BHG – Every Little Bit

The morning schedules for Summer 1988 included The Pink Panther, Silas (again!) and Play School. Various components of the regular daytime BBC1 schedule, such as the hourly news bulletins and the bizarre anthology series Five To Eleven, remained. These looked rather odd surrounded by But First This presentation – with the presenters doing their best to look sombre while linking into the news, often in fancy dress. It was rather surreal.

Three of our panel members observed that the Libman Large Precision Angle Broom isn’t as effective at sweeping flour dust as the Casabella, but it’s a close second. (The fourth panel member preferred the Libman over our pick.) In a side-by-side comparison, we found that the Libman left more flour residue behind than the Casabella. It was equally effective as our first pick at sweeping up cat litter and rice.

I’m very surprised that you didn’t mention the looseness of the O Cedar’s dust mop head as a flaw. Since it has no locking detents, at all, it moves around too much when picking it up (to flip, sweep up, or store) so anything you just swept gets strewn about as well. I keep sweeping up cat litter and as soon as I lift the mop head to sweep up the litter, the floppiness of the head causes a little to scatter around. I have another O Cedar dust mop whose handle is in the middle of the frame and it’s much more stable, but doesn’t pick up as much detritus.

If you want to make the shelves more rigid as well as more attractive, nail on 1×2 front edges (Photo 6). Use an air nailer or predrill if hand nailing. Finally, line up the shelves and attach them to the brackets from underneath with screws 1/2 in. longer than the depth of the bracket.

As CBBC links were live, few of them were recorded. Here, we bring together some surviving clips, plus features from other programmes on the ‘Broom Cupboard’ and a gallery of photographs showing the presenters and puppets.

One of the last acts of the former Communities Secretary before the election was to publish Nationally Described Space Standards which set minimum specifications for new homes throughout England. It was in effect a ban on broom cupboards. The smallest flat for which local authorities should give planning permission is set at 39 square metres (363 square feet) if the property has a bath, or 37 square metres (345 square feet) if it has a shower. These measurements are derived from standards originally proposed for London by Mayor Ken Livingstone, then adopted by Boris Johnson.

What’s so bad about the Swiffer Sweeper? I used three Swiffer sheets to clean 500 square feet of my apartment, while the dust mop handled the same mess twice (and only needed to be washed every two weeks). Keeping my place Swiffer-ed translates to 156 Swiffer sheets every year, or more than three 48-sheet packs, which are $10 apiece on Amazon. That’s $30 per year just in new sheets.

Whether you are cooking kabob on outdoor grills or indoor ovens, there are a lot of tedious steps involved in turning each skewer …separately. There is also a chance you may burn yourself attempting to turn each skewer. Therefore, to make cooking kebabs safer, quicker, and efficient, we are introducing ‘SkeweRack’, shish kabob rack system that allows flipping over all skewers simultaneously. As evident from the below video, SkeweRack can minimize the steps involved in turning all skewers and make cooking enjoyable. SkeweRack is not only for those who love to cook, but also for those who want their family/friends to be safe during cooking. SkeweRack is made with sturdy stainless steel flat skewers and easily fits on grills and inside ovens. read more

The Libman’s 12.5-inch sweeping surface is about an inch and a half wider than the Casabella’s, and both heads have similar depth. Our runner-up has 2,184 bristles—that’s about 25 percent fewer than the Casabella—and those bristles are arranged in 78 diagonal groups with about 28 bristles per group. The Libman’s wider head hastens sweeping, but its lower bristle density and less effective arrangement mean you have to make more sweeps to pick up the same amount of debris as the Casabella. Bottom line: The Casabella is easier to use.

Unlike the natural fibers of a cotton dust mop, synthetic fiber dust mops are made of man-made yarn or plastic. When this plastic yarn slides across the floor, dust is collected and held by static electricity rather than using a dust mop treatment.

The synthetic fibers are also not effected by moisture. Unlike cotton, they are much lighter to push regardless of humidity or presence of liquid. The plastic fibers and their clean-ability cause synthetic fiber dust mops to last much longer.
