So, if we’re absolutely, positively not supposed to use steam mops (or, presumably, normal mops) on hardwood floors, how are we to clean them? I was looking into Bona floor spray mops, but the idea of leaving the floor covered with a film of cleaning solution doesn’t sound appealing. FWIW, we’ve been using a steam mop regularly on our bamboo floor for years with no apparent ill effects.
For a budget-priced buy, the Shark Steam Pocket Mop is our pick for the best deal. Priced as low as $52 at publication, this mop comes with many of the key features we looked for in a mop. It heats up in less than a minute (30 seconds, to be exact) and our test floors were dry in around two minutes.
Stainless steel is an ideal material to use when setting up a potting station. It’s practical and offers a beautiful utilitarian look. Use hanging buckets and trays to keep plants and tools organized. This little station could be created in the corner of a greenhouse or even in an outdoor potting area. The counter space offers an ideal location for creating potted containers, starting seedlings, re-potting containers or watering small containers. The photo was taken at Rosendals Tradgard, an inspiring garden in Sweden. Here at one of their greenhouses, they created the perfect potting corner!
A steam mop works by heating up the water inside the reservoir to temperatures of about 120 degrees Celsius (248 degrees Fahrenheit). Many steam mops have one jet of dry steam (but may have as many as 15 jets), moistening a microfibre pad placed underneath. The steam helps soak the pad and dirt is drawn off ground. Unlike regular mops, steam mops do not leave a residue on the floor and often clean through the dirt. The heat of the steam can kill about 99 percent of the bacteria and dust mites. Steam mops can disinfect floors, restore shine, kill dust mites, and remove some stains.
Then you could include every little thing else as space allows. As you do this, start to think about the type of storage space you might need. Discover innovative means to make use of pegboard for storage.

Garage walls are a little like a blank canvas, with shelves, hooks and pegboards in place of paint. If you’ve run out of room to park your car because the space has been taken over by bikes, tools and sports equipment, or if you want to turn your seldom used garage into a workshop or entertainment room, transform the walls with one of these easy solutions.
This page describes how Whirlpool Corporation and its brands handle information we learn about customers in the United States. These panels, made from medium density fiberboard (MDF), have overlapping layers and look a little like vinyl exterior siding. They could be attached to drywall, stonework or wood studs, and also the slats give sufficient possibility for attaching hooks and also shelves.
We were impressed with the wide variety of surfaces the Steamfast SF-370WH Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner was able to clean, from floors and baseboards to oven racks. In fact, we were so excited that we made a whole day of it, steam cleaning our fridge, oven, and walls. Thanks to the extension wands, we were even able to reach the ceiling.
The mopping action worked well – we spilled jelly on the floor and it wiped it up in one pass. We liked the attached scrubber but it was not easy to use. The steam mop got to 183 degrees Fahrenheit, so wear socks when you clean.
“Now I know products like these get bad raps, and they can be hit or miss with their longevity. That’s all a given. I’ve taken every measure to treat mine with tender love and care to hopefully maintain it’s life span. Steamer mops are AWESOME! this one, I really dig how you can flip the head over to utilize the other side of the cloth. You get two cloths in the box. I bought it because we were housing some friends during Hurricane Irma who had dogs, and literally EVERY square inch of floor had to be cleaned. Too big a job for the ol’ knees, you know? I love the ‘OCD’-perfect results. And I LOVE knowing the floors are sanitized without the use of toxic chemicals. Filling it with water is VERY easy with the li’l plastic, spouted cup. It’s simple to use and heats up quickly, in like a minute or so. I’m way happy with it.”
Our illustrations and instructional process are based upon a 12′ x 24′ one-car garage with one man-door and one overhead door. We have broken the thinking-process down into the concept of the Long Garage Wall and the Short Garage Wall. This makes sense since they have to be framed separately for the reason that they meet at a ninety-degree (90°) angle at each outside corner.
Now lets study the Garage Wall Framing Erection and Bracing diagram below to see just how we sequence the erection of each wall and brace it to the earth until we have them all erected, braced, and joined at the corners.
Everyone up here uses sheet rock, plastered/textured just like normal interior walls. If you rock/plaster, I’d highly suggest painting it all right away since paint is easy to clean and plaster just absorbs dirt
Another big space waster is empty pots. It’s nice to have extra pots on hand, but they can really clutter up the space. Stack extra pots and put them into boxes or crates on a shelf for storage. I love using storage crates (these are the ones I have) because it’s easy to see what’s inside, and they sit nicely on a shelf (I love these heavy duty standing shelving units for storing garden supplies in my garage).
They also extended the cord by two feet and improved the range of the swivel motion (it is pretty impressive). We tested the S3601D, with the “D” option adding an triangle mop head and pocket pad to the deal. The triangle mop head is useful to get deeper into corners and clean tight spaces, but for larger jobs, the rectangle mop head is more effective and we found we didn’t want to switch mop heads just to finish a single room.
In fact, cleaning expert Allen, a past president of the Housekeeping Channel and the Healthy House Institute, says, “The biggest benefit to steam mops is in achieving some level of cleaning and microbial control without using chemicals.”
Use a table saw or circular saw to rip shelving 1/2 in. wider than the depth of the shelf bracket. Use 3/4-in.-thick plywood or solid wood for the shelves—it’s stronger and resists sagging better than any particleboard shelving product available.
A. Most steam mops use reusable pads. However, you must clean them regularly. Most can be machine-washed on the delicate cycle with a mild detergent, but consult your owner’s manual for the proper washing procedure.
The floor, foundation walls and steps have a Floortex™ floor coating in Nightfall. A GL Custom Steel cabinetry system and workbench were installed with a valance light bar, diamond plate backsplash and stainless steel counter top. Slatwalls provided additional storage space.

Some of the steam mops feature a two-sided, flip mop head that allows you to clean twice as much floor before changing the mop pad. One pad is soft for use on delicate flooring such as hardwood and laminates. The other pad has built-in scrubbing strips that facilitate cleaning tough messes.
Mason jars have a different type of lid – sort of a plate and a ring. If paint is left in there for ages and gets onto the plate, you can still pop it off and replace the plate – or both the plate and ring. If paint gets stuck to a baby jar lid, you’ll have a hard time twisting off the lid. Or ……. you could just try not to get any paint on any of the lids until you try to open the jar. Hope that helps.
The S6S comes with three extension tubes, a concentration nozzle, two plastic brushes, metal brush, window squeegee, upholstery tool, detail nozzle and scraper. There’s also a detergent tank built into the handle.
A pegboard system allows you to hang the majority of your tools so you can see everything. Corral large tools standing up in a garbage can; keep smaller ones in baskets on shelves, or wrap a tool belt with loops and pockets around the outside of a large bucket, and glue it in place.
A steam mop is a mop that uses steam to clean floors and carpets. Unlike a regular mop, which requires cleaning agents such as bleach or detergent, a steam mop uses heat from steam to disinfect the floors. A microfibre pad is often placed right underneath the steam jet to trap dirt. Most steam mops have a small water tank, and often provide dry steam.
This product was easy to install and is very functional. I love that it has hooks that fold down to hold random items, like my dust pan and Swiffer duster. It is a little bulkier than I imagined, but I really didn’t know what to expect. This product was super easy to put up and is exactly what I needed to add a little organization to my laundry room!
