This is a great broom for my tile floors. Keeps all the dirt and puppy hair in the broom so it doesn’t spread as I am sweeping. Great for the expensive carpets you shouldn’t vacuum. Also great for sweeping the stairs in the pool. Really is the only broom you will ever need or want.
I’m 6’6″, so definitely well above average. When I noticed that it was awkward to sweep with this one because the top of the broom was too low, I checked our other two brooms and they are each 1-2″ taller. It may just be helpful to note for your especially tall readers (or they can find the note here).
Adjustable. A broom that has adjustable features will be able to be used in different circumstances, for example, if you are able to swap out the brush head for a different attachment, the broom will also be useful in reaching up to high corners to reach dust and spider webs.

Amélie has recently come to Netflix, and inspired by a plane viewing of The Shape of Water (really, just a merman Amélie!), I decided to rewatch the older film for the first time in years. With the first lilting note of the accordion, it all came rushing back: how I did up my college bedroom in a palette of reds and greens and thought Mathieu Kassovitz was the most attractive actor in the world, and even wondered if I could pull off a pointelle sweater. Some things change, of course, but there’s one legacy of that bit of post-9/11 escapism that has stayed with me into adulthood.
The O’Cedar’s head is about twice as wide as a Swiffer’s. The cloth measures 17.5 inches across in the front, widens to 19 inches in the back, and is 5.5 inches deep. The Swiffer measures 10 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep, so it has much less surface area—even without counting our pick’s second side. Our pick’s double-sidedness also makes it better at reaching into corners where dust tends to gather. Some other dust mops we tested struggled to get dust out of tight corners, especially if it was clinging to the wall or above the floor’s surface.

The OXO starts out a little staticky. We witnessed tiny pieces of cat litter jump straight out of the dustpan’s body and cling onto the slope above the red lip. It wasn’t the worst we tested, and by the third use most of the static had dissipated and debris was no longer hurling itself out of the dustpan. (We tried wiping down the most staticky dustpans with a dryer sheet, but didn’t see any improvement. The best solution we found is to keep using the dustpan until the static dissipates.)
Our pick feels sturdy and well-made; nothing rattles or moves around during normal cleaning or with violent shaking. Some brooms felt cheap, and they creaked and clattered when shook. Many brooms have screw-on heads, and some came loose when sweeping or shaking debris out of the broom. The Casabella’s head screws on and off via plastic threads, but does not wiggle or come loose unless you’re trying to unscrew it.

Personally, for close range I just use microfiber cloths or fabric softener sheets. It sounds weird, but the fabric softener sheets do a fine job of cleaning out lint traps too. I also toss them in with some water in on grimy pots or pans. You’re going throw it in the trash anyways, might as well get some second life out of it. We know you love your lawn, but hate mowing it. If you want to make the job quick and easy, you’ve got to be willing to invest. This residential zero-turn mower gives you the comfort, maneuverability, and speed of a commercial machine for just about what it’d cost for a run-of-the-mill tractor. Husqvarna didn’t skimp on parts for the compact RZ3016: It features a long-life, reliable start-up Briggs & Stratton Intek engine, with simplified controls to meet the needs of the homeowner. Sitting through the job on a cushioned sliding seat while handling foam-grip controls sure beats pushing around your dinosaur of a mower in the hot sun, doesn’t it? And, the mower’s precision will reduce the need for a second pass with the trimmer.
If you’re looking for an actual mop, writer Ashlea Halpern suggests the one used at Nike headquarters: “I can’t believe I’m typing this, but the Bona made mopping kinda fun. The flat-head mop is wider than a Swiffer, covering more ground faster while still swiveling under furniture and into hard-to-reach corners. The microfiber pad gripped the mop firmly and didn’t get filthy as fast as the Swiffer pads do: I mopped both the living and dining rooms before stopping to clean the pad and reattach it. That action alone addressed my biggest beef with the Swiffer.”
Our panel testers loved the Casabella; three panel members ranked it the best, one panel member ranked it second behind our runner-up, the Libman Large Precision Angle Broom with Dustpan. You can’t get much from the reviews on Amazon, as it has only three (it had zero when we started). One person clearly stored their broom on its bristles and doesn’t like that the ends are frayed, one person thinks it’s too floppy, and another person’s review just says “great broom!”
