Mechanical: The weed wrench is one of the most effective techniques for the complete removal of French broom Scotch broom, and other brooms. The wrench locks on to the base of the stem and leverage is used to remove the entire plant. The wrench was specifically designed for complete broom removal to prevent any resprouting. The weed wrench is effective on many trees and shrubs up to a 2.5 inches in diameter. Some soil disturbance will occur with removal, which may favor new seedlings or deeply bury seeds in the soil. However, the disturbance is minimal and the technique can be employed even on steep slopes. Generally, a flush of broom seedlings may occur directly beneath the previously canopied area, which will need to be controlled. Mowing or cutting the shrubs may prevent seed production. However, resprouts will need to be managed.

Most (and possibly all) genera in the tribe produce 5-O-methylgenistein. Many genera also accumulate quinolizidine alkaloids, ammodendrine-type dipiperidine alkaloids, and macrocyclic pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

But a Broom-Stick, perhaps you will say, is an Emblem of a Tree standing on its Head; and pray what is Man, but a Topsy-turvey Creature, his Animal Faculties perpetually mounted on his Rational; His Head where his Heels should be, groveling on the Earth, and yet with all his Faults, he sets up to be an universal Reformer and Corrector of Abuses, a Remover of Grievances, rakes into every Sluts Corner of Nature, bringing hidden Corruptions to the Light, and raises a mighty Dust where there was none before, sharing deeply all the while, in the very same Pollutions he pretends to sweep away: His last Days are spent in Slavery to Women, and generally the least deserving; till worn to the Stumps, like his Brother Bezom, he is either kickt out of Doors, or made use of to kindle Flames, for others to warm themselves by.

I have no idea why that fine print about plaster walls has been added. I’ve used an old deep scan model on my plaster walls for years and it works just fine. It is obviously more difficult for any device to measure density change when there is thick plaster and then wood strips running across the studs, but it works for me every time.
The Broom is the badge of the Forbes. Thus, according to Sandford, it was the bonny broom which the Scottish clan of Forbes wore in their bonnets when they wished to arouse the heroism of their chieftains, and which in their Gaelic dialect they called bealadh, in token of its beauty.

Before the 19th century, broom-making was an idiosyncratic art; most were fashioned at home from whatever materials were at hand. The basic design involved binding the sweeping bundle to a wooden stick with rope or linen twine. However, these homespun brooms had short lives and had to be replaced often.
Instead of a solid threaded wing-nut design on the mop head to mount the sponge, I realized this mop has been built as cheaply as the rest. The plastic nubs connect via plastic nuts which lock in place with a quarter turn. Under normal mopping these cheap nuts rotate and release leaving the mop sponge flopping loose. Manufacturer saved cents and built a disappointing mop as a result.

The Built in sponge ringer does a good job at ringing out the middle of the sponge but the outside ends of the sponge are barely squeezed and seem to hold a lot of water leaving some pretty wet streaks. I’ve uploaded some product review picture showing the sponge in it’s normal squeezed position and another picture showing how you can squeeze it by hand to get even more water out. Also the bottom of the mop has a striped pattern that sometimes gets left on the floor in places where you lift the mop up( for instance, when you are done and raise the mop off the floor.) Overall, I’m still glad I bought it and will continue using it. I’ve only used it a couple times so far. Hopefully it will last.

Our broom making equipment, technology and the use of broomcorn can now be found worldwide. Our broom industry flourished until 1994 when foreign brooms were permitted into the U.S., duty free. The remaining small factories struggle to compete with Mexican-made brooms, while individual broom makers like yours’ truly make a few thousand high quality brooms each year and tell the interesting stories of our history.

The plant has been touted as a potential drug of abuse or “legal high.” In describing the preparation of the drug, some counter-culture magazines suggest that the flowers be collected and aged for about 10 days in a closed jar. 2 The moldy, dried blossoms are then pulverized, rolled in cigarette paper and smoked like marijuana.
Many of the most popular brooms in gardens are hybrids, notably Kew broom (Cytisus ×kewensis, hybrid between C. ardoinii and C. multiflorus) and Warminster broom (Cytisus ×praecox, hybrid between C. purgans and C. multiflorus).

You can build and paint this locker in a weekend, although you might need another half day to give the pressure-treated trim a second coat of paint. The straightforward construction requires only basic power tools—a circular saw with a standard carbide blade and a drill. An air compressor and nail gun aren’t necessary but will make the framing and trim work easier (and faster!).
In large doses, Sparteine causes vomiting and purging weakens the heart, depresses the nerve cells and lowers the blood pressure and has a strong resemblance to the action of Conine (Hemlock) on the heart. In extreme cases, death is caused by impairing the activity of the respiratory organs. Shepherds have long been aware of the narcotic properties of Broom, due to Sparteine, having noticed that sheep after eating it become at first excited and then stupefied, but the intoxicating effects soon pass off.

The modern homemaker can choose from a range of implements to clean his floors, including synthetic brooms, the constantly metastasizing Swiffer product line, and, of course, the vacuum cleaner. The last of these is highly effective at certain tasks (especially the cleaning of carpets), but most American homes still keep an old-fashioned broom around for its unfailing dependability. For a household item essentially perfected in its design so many decades ago, the broom’s staying power—both as a cleaning tool and cultural symbol of neat domestic tranquility—is remarkable and deserved.
The simple bike hook works great, actually, if for no other reason than the small wall section where I installed it. It’s such a short section of wall next to the kitchen that the handlebars hang around the right corner into the kitchen (up high out of the way), so they only stick out from the wall half as far as normally would on an all flat section of wall. The only issue was the rear wheel wanted to hang down off the left side sticking out beyond the corner. So I did an easy fix by hooking the seat around the right corner, and moving a bookshelf (that I also needed space for) underneath to ensure the bike doesn’t dislodge and slide laterally past the left corner.
