Our pick is well-designed, great at sweeping, and comfortable to use. (It’s pretty cute too, not that anyone is buying a broom for its dashing good looks.) On top of all that, it’s the least expensive broom we tested—only $10, and that’s cheaper even than the other brooms that also lacked a dustpan. Our survey found that most people are willing to pay up to $20 for a great broom. The Casabella costs only half that, and it’s the best of the bunch.

You don’t have to break the bank in order to find the best product. In fact, most broom and dustpan kits come at an affordable price. While we don’t recommend going for the cheapest alternative available, you can still find a balance between affordability and quality.

The Quickie’s head is made of resin and its fibers are various sorts of polypropylene, so it can be used on wet material without fear of rot. At $14, it was also the second-cheapest broom in our sample—shipping costs from Amazon can throw that off, but it’s sometimes priced as low as $10 at Home Depot. It’s lighter than the O’Cedar (2 lbs. vs. 3 lbs.), although it’s about the same 64” overall length, depending on exactly how you measure the height of a broom with an angled handle. Online user reviews of the Quickie are usually satisfied—that is, as long as the handles remain intact.

The $20 Scotch-Brite Angled broom has a foam insert that’s supposed to make the broom better at sweeping somehow, but it does the opposite. The insert prevents the broom from getting into corners and around oddly shaped things like door jambs, and it is terrible at sweeping up everything.

Congratulations! So, you’ve decided to become a better sweeper. Your timing couldn’t be better—spring officially began this morning, which makes it a great time to get rid of those winter dust bunnies. And reading this article is your first step towards having cleaner floors. To find the scientifically best way to wield a broom, we spoke with two cleaning experts.

Last, we found that the pole—which screws into the steering mechanism on the frame—can unscrew if you sharply jerk the handle to the left (counterclockwise) when turning the dust mop. This is annoying, but it’s also avoidable if you use smooth, calm strokes.

While some had mentioned it was no longer available Amazon Casabella has a readily availabe coupon code to cut the price of the broom in half so even with shipping you come out ahead of the game.

More than just for hard flooring, this rubber broom is perfect for sweeping area rugs, runners, carpeted stairs, furniture, and more. It is able to pull amazing amounts of hair and fur from rugs and carpets due to the rubber bristles, and for this reason, it is the best broom for pet owners. Use it to quickly remove pet hair from high traffic areas and where your dog or cat likes to sleep, or clean areas that are difficult to vacuum like stairs and upholstery. As you sweep, the bristles will flex and penetrate into the carpet pile to remove unwanted pet hair without the risk of damaging or scuffing valuable furniture. A static charge is built up that actually pulls up dirt, dust and hair into the broom and out of your carpet. By using it like this, it also acts as a carpet rake to refresh the nap while cleaning and removing unwanted dirt, hair and debris. This rubber broom works so well, it can even pull up hair out of a freshly vacuumed carpet.

This broom holder from Anybest is perhaps the most fascinating of them all. Its futuristic design presents a double deck with 6 ball grips, 6 hooks, and 2-layered structure. This allows you to store many more items compared to the standard single-layer broom holders. It features rolling balls that automatically adjust to take the thickness of the handles. A simple lifting of the broom handle will release the grip.

This is the traditional garden standby. Shoveling material in and out is easy. Wheelbarrows tip up for easy unloading. The single-wheel variety requires some strength and sense of balance (let a load of dirt tip over sideways in the lawn and you will know what I mean). A heavy-duty two wheel model is available. Wheelbarrows are manufactured in homeowner and contractor grades. Contractor versions generally have a heavier duty tray support and a thicker gauge tray. Wheelbarrow trays are metal or plastic.

Dampen your mop’s cleaning pad with water. Grab a fresh cloth cleaning pad that’s large enough to fit on your mop. Then, rinse the pad with warm water to dampen it. If you accidentally soak the pad, wring it out to remove excess water.[10]

Now that you know how to take care of your cleaning tools, how do you know when it’s time to replace them with new ones? Both cleaning experts told us that a broom’s condition is visual: “If it looks bad, it is bad.” When the bristles are broken, bent, or falling out and the broom is more of a hindrance than a help, it’s time to get a new one. However, if the ends of the bristles are frayed somewhat uniformly, don’t panic. Those are called flagged bristles, and are frayed intentionally to make the broom better at trapping dust. A great, well-cared for broom should last several years of weekly use.

Although herbs and spices are small, they consume a lot of space inside cabinets. Improve your cooking efficiency with this ClosetMaid 3-Shelf Spice Rack. Home Depot customer Lexikon from Kentucky says, “I installed three of these spice racks on the inside of the pantry door in our kitchen. Now I’m a hero with my wife. She loves recovering the cabinet space that all the spices formerly took up in her kitchen.” Proof that it’s the easiest way to keep spices organized, stored and close at hand!

Yes. Use it on your floor or pavers without worry. It is gentle on delicate surfaces, but also tough enough to be used outdoors on cement. You will not mark up the wood, and the bristles will not get ruined when used outside.

Replace any furnishings you removed from the area. Once the floor dries completely, replace any objects you removed earlier. If necessary, clean the bottoms of your chairs, tables, and similar furniture items with a wet paper towel to avoid tracking in dirt and dust.[15]

Small spaces usually come with even smaller storage spaces. The Home Depot offers a variety of apartment-friendly storage solutions to help make your closets more functional. Click-through to get DIY ideas and how-to guides.

Casabella’s $9 Dustpan & Brush Set is similar to the Wayclean set mentioned above, but is the absolute worst we tested. It took more than 14 sweeps to get all the cat litter into the pan, when every other pan we tested took six or fewer.

Organization can be an overlooked component in maintaining a smoothly running office or home. Being able to find the document, supply or reference manual you need exactly when you need it helps you make sure that you can stay busy and productive all day long. Whether you need file boxes or stacking drawers, check out our wide array of storage solutions to find the options that will bring order to your environment.

We tested the Casabella against 13 other brooms by sweeping a half cup of flour, cat litter, and rice, and our pick was the most effective at sweeping all three types of debris. It left the least residue behind when sweeping up the tiniest particles of flour and litter, and was especially capable at getting dust up out of cracks in the floor. It was, simply put, the best sweeper we tested.

This is the smaller of the two racks — 35 long; the other is 50 long. Took less than 10 minutes to install and holds an amazing quantity of heavy yard tools, including two pickaxes, a sledge hammer, a weed wacker, and a whole lot more. I’m now ordering one of their larger racks Monkey Bars Yard Rack in Gray for the rest of the tools. In another review I posted my experience with Monkey Bar’s customer service. All that I can say is that it’s superb and responsive customer service. Hard to beat that.

Push broom heads are wider and flatter than corn broom heads, and the bristles are set into a wooden or plastic block that can be separated from the handle. You can sweep a larger area more quickly with a push broom than a corn broom, but there are trade-offs. They’re great for wide open areas, but getting a push broom into a corner is a challenge. The bristles on push brooms tend to be stiffer, thicker, and placed farther apart, so they can be less efficient at sweeping dust and fine particles (and some common dust particles are as fine as .1 microns across.) Some brooms, like the O’Cedar 24” Multi-Surface Push Broom and the Quickie Bulldozer—two of our picks—combine an outer ring of soft, fine bristles with an inner core of thick bristles, which helps the broom catch everything with some firm pushing.
