In less than an hour you can get that jumble of long-handled yard tools neatly stored in this simple rack. The best part is, the rack will be customized to exactly the tools you want to store. You can place it at any convenient height, as long as there is enough room for the tool handles to hang below. All you need is a length of 1×6 lumber, two 5-in. by 6-in. metal brackets, six 1¼-in. screws, and two 5/8-in. screws.
Rule two: Wash your broom once in a while! It seems like common sense that you should wash a tool used to clean up all manner of gross things, but many people never think about it. Once every few months—or whenever your broom gets gunky—take it outside and give it a good shake. Then wash the broom’s head with soap and warm water in a bucket, sink, or even your bathtub, making sure to get deep in all the bristles for a thorough clean. Shake off as much water as you can, then leave the broom to air dry (bristles up!) overnight. Voilà! A clean broom.
Cons: Not sure how long the plastic that holds the mop in place will last. Removing the mop to shake it requires a lot of bending and twisting to the plastic holder. This might be the weak link to this mop. Only time will tell. I would of preferred a round mop head. A round mop head and a more effective way to remove the mop from holder would earn this item five stars.
This mop is big – about 18 long x 7 wide. So it does floors quickly. Used it on wood and tile. Label said it can even be used on stone, and is good for pet hair. It picks up the dirt and dust easily. It has a release button you press with your foot to take the pad off and wash it. It has a twist… see moreof Terry’s review
Dust mops are available in a number of styles to fit different applications. Twisted-loop mops offer the highest level of dust pickup, and they’re also less likely to get snagged on objects and fixtures. Looped-end mops offer excellent coverage and hold up to repeated launderings without fraying. Some cut-end mops can be laundered and reused, but many are considered disposable and are not designed to be washed. Some commercial dust mops are made with antimicrobial agents that resist the growth of bacteria to help keep the mops sanitary between washings.
Home Depot’s $13 HDX 15 in. All Purpose Large Angle Broom with Dust Pan is one of the worst brooms we tested. It isn’t effective at cleaning up flour or cat litter, and its dustpan’s lip is too steep.
I just installed my second one of these units, they work great. I did have one hook that was defective this time, called the company, got a person who transferred me to Shaun where I got voicemail, grr. I hung up, but before I could put the phone down Shaun called me back (caller ID), quickly understood the problem and sent me a new hook, no problem. Given that they come with more than enough hooks it wasn’t a big issue but the service was awesome. I am now scanning my garage trying to figure where I can fit another one…
I am a 54 year old woman, and was able to put this cabinet together with very few problems. It is perfect for what I am using it for (bathroom linen cabinet) I sanded and stained the top to a darker color, and changed out the knobs. It is not a heavy cabinet, but for the money, the quality is good. We will reinforce the back before anchoring it to the wall. Overall, we are happy with this purchase.
Carve up your cupboards – Create cupboards that have a rich inner life by carefully thinking about what you’ll use the storage for at the planning stage of a project. This is especially true in kitchens where, after fitting your units, you’ll most likely have a space left with odd dimensions, where a regular kitchen unit won’t fit.
So, knowing the hanger is plastic, it does what it’s supposed to. I bought it when it was on sale for a fraction of the usual price. At the higher price it would have been a “no way”. You get what you pay for. The tool rack and a small cardboard retail pegboard hanger. There are NO instructions of any kind and no fastening devices like screws. Since it was actually designed to be used with Suncast sheds I was hoping it would snap or somehow fit into premade notches formed into the shed but no such luck. Since you have to screw it to the plastic walls of the shed it is no better of a rack than anything you would buy at the hardware store.
Look to storage shops and hardware store aisles for specialty racks, grid systems, organizers, hooks, and shelves that you can mount on a wall. A trio of tactically spaced pot-rack bars allowed these homeowners to store (and showcase!) their copper pots close to their stove.

Before you can begin cleaning and organizing the garage, you have to sort what you have stored in there. Grab a lot of boxes and start organizing things by similarity. Once you know what you have and what you need to store, you can hang hooks, put up shelves to hold plastic bins and otherwise get everything perfectly organized. It was then that Becker met Ms Ermakova. After five minutes of small talk he followed her into the darkest corner of the restaurant – which turned out to be the broom cupboard – and got down to business.
Just adding a little style to your garage doors will instantly transform them. You can actually give those doors the carriage house door look without spending hundreds on actual carriage house doors. Many home improvement stores sell kits that allow you to instantly transform your doors and the kits are relatively inexpensive and really easy to install. Via: Garrdenoflove – Garage Door Makeover
In fact, weathered surfaces are what make those old metal rakes and battered watering cans so desirable, oftentimes for uses other than those for which they were originally designed. The head of a rake, for instance, can double as a wineglass holder, with crystal stems steadied between the tines. Fitted with a dollar-store vase filled with fresh-cut blooms, an old, leaky watering can could serve as a rustic centerpiece on a patio table or a dining room buffet.
The purpose of the article is to get your creative juices flowing, not necessarily to have you copy what you see. Not everyone has an immaculate double car garage to start with. I don’t even have a garage, but a carport and I have done some really cool things there. Be a little more open minded.
Properly organizing and storing our tools is something most of us strive for but it’s an ongoing process. And some of us [raises hand] are often far less organized than we’d like to be. Seeing other people’s storage solutions, especially when they are ingenious ones, can help stimulate a little of one’s own re-org inspirations. With that in mind, we present a gallery of twenty solutions we hope will inspire some clever organizational ideas in you.
We were concerned that the Casabella’s denser bristles would make the broom harder to clean out with soap and water, but this wasn’t the case. Our pick was easy to clean out under the bathtub faucet with a little bit of dish soap, and we left it to dry overnight—good as new!
If our main pick is unavailable or you want a broom that comes with a dustpan, we recommend the $14 Libman Large Precision Angle Broom with Dustpan. It’s not as effective at sweeping up dust as the Casabella, it’s heavier and its bristles are a bit too stiff, and it doesn’t have our pick’s comfy grip. However, among the brooms we tested the Libman was the second best at sweeping , was well-liked by our panel, and comes with an okay dustpan.
Dont know how you could go wrong with this. It is inexpensive, sturdy plastic, and engineered with keeping yard tools on the thing (slanted back towards the wall, lips on the ends of the hooks. I suspect it is completely unbreakable. It is plastic so no rust or corrosion ever.
This oil based treatment can cause many short and long-term problems for floors. If too much is used, the floors can become extremely slippery and difficult to clean. Because of the oil, cleaning with a water based solution is less effective. (Water and oil don’t mix) To remove the film, a de-greasing chemical is needed which can cause damage to floor finish.
The dimensions of this tower was 20.5 D x 38 W x 34.4 H and is meant for indoors, but it could be outdoors. The only problem with that is I think the sun (living in Arizona), ends up destroying/weakening the plastic over time. When used inside, the heat won’t melt the plastic but when the sun takes its toll on it, it would weaken the integrity of the structure, which may cause it to break or bend. And last but not least, it doesn’t appear to be able to attach to any walls. If it is top heavy it may come down, but it seems pretty sturdy to me.
Beyond costs, the Swiffer is just not as effective at cleaning as the O-Cedar dust mop. The Swiffer is effective at picking up dust, dirt, and cat hair, but it can’t get into cracks or corners as well as our pick because it uses flat sheets instead of a textured Plus, the O-Cedar Dual Action Flip Mop’s head is almost twice the width of the Swiffer’s, so the Swiffer takes nearly twice the time and energy to clean the same space.
For Summer 1986, the decision was taken to move Children’s BBC to the mornings. The traditional BBC1 afternoon schedule was abandoned (though BBC2 ran dubbed drama Heidi and Hanna-Barbera’s The Roman Holidays with standard out-of-vision, announcer-led presentation). The summer morning line up of programmes including repeats of Record Breakers, the acquired drama Silas, a summer version of Newsround presented from alongside the Radio 1 Roadshow, and the long running Play School.
