The Swiffer WetJet is best suited to clean daily dirt from your hard floor. It does not absorb liquid spills and doesn’t pick up chunks of grime, but those who use it just for wet mopping are pleased with its performance. The textured pads pick up a lot of dirt, according to users, and you can even lean in and give a stubborn spot a good scrubbing — although some suggest pretreating dried stains first by squirting the spot with the mop’s cleaning solution and letting it sit, or using a separate cleaner to pretreat it. Many reviewers say the WetJet works well at picking up pet hair, too.

I am rating this Bona Microfiber mop a 4/5 based on Amazon’s scale of a 4 being “I like it!”. The mop is a nice size and does exactly what it’s meant to do, but I feel like the mop handle itself could be a little bit more sturdy. I have only just received the mop, and only used it a few times so far, but I do think a stronger mop handle would be better in the long run, especially if you will be using this frequently. I have wood flooring in my kitchen and dining room, and therefore, tend to use the mop 1-2 times daily, depending on meals and messes, etc.

I was undecided on 2 or 3 stars, but I gave it 3. The mop handle is nice. The head is about 50% larger than Swiffer and the Bona velcro attachment is good. Reusing the microfiber pads is good. The dust thing is useless. Swiffer is way better. I like the microfiber pads for using liquid product. I have the Bona tile floor cleaner, which is good. The results are as good or slightly better than Swiffer and the pad is reusable, not disposable, so that’s a plus. I have the Bona wood floor cleaner clean and refresh, which is so-so. They make another product that has some polyurethane in it, so I may give that a try.

While the Swiffer WetJet is convenient, it does have its detractors. The initial cost of this floor mop is low, but some complain that the cleaning solution and pad refill costs add up. And the WetJet can’t be used with any cleaning solution other than its own; special tabs on the containers keep them from being reused. The Swiffer also requires four AA batteries that are not included and need to be replaced when the trigger stops working. Critics are also concerned that the cleaning solution dispensers, pads and batteries clog landfills, though in some communities the pads or containers may qualify for recycling.

In her book Maggie’s Memories Margaret Wadkin (late of Hickling, near Melton Mowbray in England) describes the use of a mop nail for constructing homemade mops from old pieces of cloth during her village childhood in the early 20th century. The mop nail was made by the blacksmith (if there are any still around, they will be antiques). This nail was several inches long with a point at the end and a flat head a couple or so inches wide. We would stand the nail on its flat head, cut pieces of old material into squares and push over the sharp end of the nail and when enough fix a piece of leather, then push the sharp point into the mop stale or handle. There was a knack of twisting these mops over the wrist to swish away surplus water, every woman could use one of these useful mops.[5]

Here’s the Cadillac of drill bit racks. It comes with a sizing index to check round work pieces and the bits themselves for drilling the exact corresponding hole. The length of the rack is up to you—build it to hold all your bits in order of size. You can either build it freestanding for tabletop use or without the base pieces for wall mounting.

I have an unusual love for these bad boys. They work well, and you can actually scrub with them. They pick up pet hair and dust and whatever else makes it into my home. If you ring them out or only dampen them, your floor will dry faster than lots of other fast things. AND, best part, machine washable.

Spray mops aim to be the most convenient floor mop you can own. They include a container for cleaning solution that’s attached to the mop handle and disposable pads that attach to the base. Just spray, mop and discard the pad when it’s too dirty. There’s a cost to this convenience, of course: Pads and cleaner refills can be expensive, and the mops operate on battery power, so batteries have to be replaced. Some also worry about the environmental impact of disposable accessories, although some mops have refillable containers that can use any type of cleaning solution and washable, reusable pads. Also, spray mops are just for light cleaning and will not absorb water like a traditional floor mop.

A garage is an optimal place to organize and store not only garage gear but also off-season belongings. This space recruits a variety of storage options, such as a freestanding shelving unit to hold things like cleaning supplies and dog food and a pegboard for tools to maintain a sense of order. A wooden shelf was installed over the door to tuck away seasonal supplies.

The springs that push the handle-slot rollers inward are stronger than those I’ve seen in similar holders, and the rubber lining seems quite grippy. I’ve used the slots to hang brooms, sponge-mops, and lobby dustpans with larger-diameter handles, and Swiffer tools with smaller-diameter aluminum handles. It takes a *little bit* of force to get them seated, but once they’re there, they stay put.
