13 Clever Space-Saving Solutions and Storage Ideas: A custom-built laundry sorter and storage cabinet keeps this closet in order. The laundry compartments make it easy to keep lights and darks separate.
This storage system solves two challenges: first, how to design storage space for the narrow alley between the garage side wall and the family car; and second, how to create a solid mounting surface to hold shelves and hooks that are capable of carrying hundreds of pounds of stuff.
There’s no universal answer to how long microfiber lasts—that depends on how well it’s cared for, how often it’s washed, how dirty it gets, and how well-made it is to begin with. Manufacturers estimate their microfiber mop heads will survive anywhere from 100 to 500 washes. (How often you need to wash it will vary; once every two weeks worked for us.) Both experts say to pay careful attention to how well your dust mop cleans. When it stops picking up dust—or if it falls apart entirely—it’s time to buy a new cloth.
The $15 Rubbermaid Flexible Sweeper has an effective cover, but that cloth is too big for the frame. During cleaning it feels like it’s going to fall off. The frame is hollow in the middle, so it doesn’t press the cloth evenly into the floor. Finally, the handle extension mechanism is bulky and makes the Rubbermaid difficult to grip.

The only exception to the above rules is if you live in a location where you have to pay per load to do your laundry. It’s not cost effective to pay more than 50 cents each time you wash your dust mop, so we recommend hand washing it instead in a bucket (or your sink, or bathtub) with warm water and our recommended detergent. Rinse very thoroughly, then hang to dry.

Yep and per our expert- Yes and that’s a good thing! You want your broom to grab the pet hairs instead of them flying all over the place. When you feel like your broom is too full of pet hair, give it a quick wash in your sink or bathtub.
Personally, for close range I just use microfiber cloths or fabric softener sheets. It sounds weird, but the fabric softener sheets do a fine job of cleaning out lint traps too. I also toss them in with some water in on grimy pots or pans. You’re going to throw it in the trash anyways, might as well get some second life out of it. If you needed a smaller hand duster you could grab this: http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Microfiber-Duster/dp/B00940DV6W/ref=zg_bs_2245499011_2
Grampa’s Weeder has been pulling out weeds and their roots for over a hundred years! We were thrilled to introduce Grampa’s Weeder to gardners everywhere. It’s amazing that this century old tool, a simple lever, remains one of the most effective weed removers on the market.

A new animated ident appeared in September 1991. This was computer-animated and was played in from recordable laserdisc, which was the format then being used to play the BBC1 and BBC2 symbols. The original version of the music used on the ident was not particularly distinctive and was replaced by a much more upbeat suite of music in April 1992. Some of the cuts of the new music included spoken lyrics, including Tell that aardvark it’s a wrap! and Essential viewing coming up. The new ident was augmented by the unveiling of new neon signage in the Broom Cupboard and on the set used for the morning birthdays links.
Garage organization is not difficult nor is it expensive. It is however, essential if you want a clean space where everything is relatively easy to find. Whether you have a large garage or just a small space, there are many things that you can do to utilize that space and give yourself a bit of additional storage without taking up the area that you need for cars and other items.
Use a level to make sure the top 1-by-4 is level. Hold it in place and drill two 1/4-inch pilot holes over each stud. Level and drill similar pilot holes over the lower 1-by-4. The top edge of the upper 1-by-4 and the bottom edge of the lower 1-by-4 should be 10 inches apart. Screw both 1-by-4s into place with 2 1/2-inch screws.
On a pair of pencil marks between two sets of handles, drill pilot holes (be sure to switch to a smaller bit first) for the spring-clip fasteners, and twist in the screws. Now find a nice spot for your rack, install it using the proper hanging hardware for the wall type, and start organizing your garden tools.

EDIT May 25, 2017: I have to drop this review to three stars because there is a serious flaw to this product. When you attach a wider handle to this organizer, it permanently changes the shape or resistance of the rubber. I removed a telescoping pole which I had attached to this organizer and tried to attach a smaller broom and the broom slipped out because the rubber grips did not want to grip it as they had been stretched by the telescoping pole. So now, this organizer has become somewhat of a proprietary organizer for the products I have attached to it. I have the seven and nine tool models and I had to throw the smaller one out because I could not use it anymore.
In the summer of 1989, the BBC1 Presentation Control Room was re-equipped for NICAM digital stereo and during this time, Children’s BBC decamped to sub control, down the corridor, once more. The new location was referred to on screen as The Boiler Room – a fitting term giving the ageing equipment in use in there. Unusually the camera angle used differed – the presenter sat not behind the desk, but stood in front of the monitor stack.
Children’s BBC TWO returned in autumn 1990 with a further season introduced by Andi and Simon. Programmes once again included an omnibus edition of the previous week’s two editions of Blue Peter and the acclaimed culture series, Boxpops. In addition to features and guests populating the links, a phone-in game, The 9.25 Express was played each Sunday. In this two callers competed against each other for the chance to win prizes, the eventual winner being shown a selection of prizes in quick succession and having to shout stop on the one they wanted.
I needed a hanger that could span between two wood struts in a shed. This is plastic, so it flexes a bit. Also the tops of the protruding holders are flat, thus lets my shovel and rakes work their way forward too much. Next time I will look for a rack that has better stiffness and retention properties.
The $15 OXO Good Grips Angled Broom is a good broom and made it into our top four. However, our panel decided that its bristles are too soft, the head is thinner and less dense than our pick, and it flings too much debris to recommend.

A very popular series running on Children’s BBC at this time was BRB Internacional’s 26-episode Around The World With Willy Fog. BRB, based in Madrid, had produced the hugely successful Dogtanian series which the BBC had acquired and shown several times previously on Children’s BBC. Willy Fog was based on the novel by Jules Verne and portrayed all the characters as animals. The theme tune was rather catchy and was sung by Andy on more than one occasion, who even trotted out the Spanish version one afternoon. Accompanied by postally distributed songsheets, the interest peaked with the mounting of National Willy Fog Day, on which Andy again sang the opening title music, only this time he did so from one of the Presentation studios, keyed afront of the titles and dressed up in turn as all of the characters.
Hung within kids’ reach, these white-painted crates ensure that tykes can readily access and return the crates’ contents. Neatness doesn’t count; books slip in easily with no stacking or shelving required. Remember to screw crates and shelves into studs to ensure storage units stay securely attached to the wall.
I don’t think I’ve got a dust pan, but I do understand its purpose. But brooms … I guess they might be useful if you’ve got a terrace or a front porch or something similarly half-outdoors. Otherwise, this feels like a test of carriages in the era of Tesla cars. What can I do with a broom that I can’t do with a modern vacuum? They are just moving dirt around, a vacuum seems infinitely more useful to me.
Pull your car into the garage and measure how much space is available. Then look over what you need to store and figure out where it will fit. Generally it’s best to hang narrow shelves and smaller hooks lower where space is tight, with wider shelves up near the ceiling so you don’t bump your head or interfere with car doors.
