Even if you usually grab the vacuum when it’s time for some cleaning, it’s still worth it to have a broom and dustpan on hand as a backup or alternative. Not only can mechanical failure or a power outage curtail a cleaning machine’s ability to work as noted, but the loud noise of these can be a limiting factor as well. A broom’s sweep is all but silent, so you can do some cleaning even when others are sleeping, or when you yourself simply don’t want to hear a loud noise.

On October 14, 2008, M.O.P. filed suit in a New York Federal Court against the WWE and John Cena. The group claims that Cena and the WWE stole parts of their song Ante Up for Cena’s theme song The Time is Now. The theme song is also featured as the first track on Cena’s album You Can’t See Me. M.O.P. is seeking the destruction of the song and asking for $150,000 in damages. The lawsuit has since been dropped, it is unknown if a settlement was reached outside of court.[4]

The O’Cedar’s head is about twice as wide as a Swiffer’s. The cloth measures 17.5 inches across in the front, widens to 19 inches in the back, and is 5.5 inches deep. The Swiffer measures 10 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep, so it has much less surface area—even without counting our pick’s second side. Our pick’s double-sidedness also makes it better at reaching into corners where dust tends to gather. Some other dust mops we tested struggled to get dust out of tight corners, especially if it was clinging to the wall or above the floor’s surface.

This is the smaller of the two racks — 35 long; the other is 50 long. Took less than 10 minutes to install and holds an amazing quantity of heavy yard tools, including two pickaxes, a sledge hammer, a weed wacker, and a whole lot more. I’m now ordering one of their larger racks Monkey Bars Yard Rack in Gray for the rest of the tools. In another review I posted my experience with Monkey Bar’s customer service. All that I can say is that it’s superb and responsive customer service. Hard to beat that.

The $10 Quickie Professional Large All-Purpose Broom has a wide head, but leaves lots of residue behind when sweeping flour and cat litter. Its long, springy bristles fling debris when sweeping piles into the dustpan.

Although herbs and spices are small, they consume a lot of space inside cabinets. Improve your cooking efficiency with this ClosetMaid 3-Shelf Spice Rack. Home Depot customer Lexikon from Kentucky says, “I installed three of these spice racks on the inside of the pantry door in our kitchen. Now I’m a hero with my wife. She loves recovering the cabinet space that all the spices formerly took up in her kitchen.” Proof that it’s the easiest way to keep spices organized, stored and close at hand!

Dust mop cloths come in a few common styles: cut end, looped end, and chenille. Cut ends are prone to fraying, and looped ends are a little better at grabbing dust, but our tests found that chenille microfiber heads—the kind that look like a colorful forest of little worms—are the most effective because their nubs get into cracks and corners better. Chenille heads also hold more dust, which means they can clean more before being washed.

The Libman’s 12.5-inch sweeping surface is about an inch and a half wider than the Casabella’s, and both heads have similar depth. Our runner-up has 2,184 bristles—that’s about 25 percent fewer than the Casabella—and those bristles are arranged in 78 diagonal groups with about 28 bristles per group. The Libman’s wider head hastens sweeping, but its lower bristle density and less effective arrangement mean you have to make more sweeps to pick up the same amount of debris as the Casabella. Bottom line: The Casabella is easier to use.

Sweep or vacuum the floor before mopping. Most mops do a poor job of picking up crumbs, hair, and other forms of solid debris. As such, you’ll need to use a broom, hardwood floor vacuum, or handheld vacuum to clean up the floor before mopping it.[3]

The handle is equipped with foam grips that will make it easier for you to grip the pole of the broom without slipping. As a plus, it will also make it more comfortable to the touch which can add to your productivity.

The O’Cedar Outdoor Power Angler Angle Broom ($16) garnered praise for its ability to get into corners and cracks. That said, it’s light-weight and small, at 1.6 pounds and 60” overall length. Its head is only 10” and light, which makes it hard to push heavier debris or clear large surfaces quickly. It’s fine if you want to clean that little spot on the patio where your no-good-son-in-law throws his cigarette butts when you make him smoke outside, but if you ever want to sweep anything heavier, you’ll be wishing that your bought something else.

Step four: There is no step four! You’re done. Just don’t forget to keep your broom clean. Maker recommends washing it with soap and water in a sink, using a sink strainer to keep the crud from clogging up your pipes.

Storage. Being able to conveniently store a broom can be very handy and can prevent accidents from the broom falling over and hitting other items. Consider whether the broom comprises a hanging loop at the tip of the handle, which can be used to hang it against a wall where it will be out of the way.

The 43-inch gray pole is made of powder-coated steel, and it’s topped with a rigid EVA plastic handle. This tapered hard-plastic grip at the top of the pole is a comfortable place to hold. The Casabella has a flexible, 2-inch loop that makes the broom easier to hang and store than the rigid plastic holes built into the center of most broom handles—this loop can fit on a wider range of nails and hooks of different sizes and angles.

It’s OK if your broom gets wet, and in fact you should periodically clean its bristles with soapy water; a bit of laundry soap and hot water works well. It’s not OK if your broom stays wet, however. Bristles left wet for too long can curl or unravel, and can also experience a buildup of mold, mildew, or bacteria. Dry the bristles with a hairdryer on low, or simply leave the broom in a sunny, airy location with its bristles aiming down so the water can both drip and evaporate away.

M.O.P.’s fan base was loyal but remained rather small until 2000, when they released Warriorz, this time on Loud Records. Mainstream radio began playing the first single, Ante Up, produced by DR Period, with whom they had not worked with since their debut. The single was a hit and propelled the album to #25 on the Billboard 200 chart.[7] The follow-up single, the self-produced Cold As Ice (which featured a sample from Cold As Ice by Foreigner), also received radio airplay,[5] although several of the song’s lyrics had to be censored for the radio version. It was used in the UK on a TV advert for Ice White toothpaste. Both Ante Up and Cold as Ice reached the top ten on the UK Singles Chart peaking at #7 and #4 respectively.[8]

I really like the Casabella broom and Oxo dustpan which I recently purchased based on your recommendation. One thing that I wish the dustpan had though is grooves / ridges on the edge of the dustpan to clean the bristles of the broom.

Mops for pre-moisting are flat sheets of (often microfiber) textile, usually about 15 cm (6 in) wide, and comes in variable lengths (usually 30–100 cm (12–39 in)). Mops for pre-moisting are fastened on a handle with a flat pad mount with the aid of velcro or a pouch on the mop, in which the pad on the handle fits.
