The Casabella excels, in spite of the Libman’s wider head, because the Casabella’s sweeping surface is exponentially denser, with more even distribution and a higher total bristle count. Plus, each of those 2,880 bristles has a flagged end to help it trap dust and hair. Cleaning expert Leslie Reichert told us flagged bristles are best for indoor cleaning and dry messes because they “pick up small particles much better and don’t tend to leave much behind.” In practice, the Casabella took fewer sweeps than the Libman to gather a mess into a pile and left less residue behind, which balances out the Libman’s advantage of having a wider head.

The WOLF-Garten Outdoor Broom B40M ($23) is small for an outdoor push broom—it’s just 16” wide—and you’ll need to buy a $22 handle to go with it if you don’t already have a suite of WOLF-Garten tools. That brings the total cost to $45…plus the glue you’ll need to keep the handle from constantly shifting and clicking while you use the broom. Many Amazon reviewers are very happy with WOLF-Garten’s aluminum “Multi-Star” handle system, where a single pole with a push-button locking system attaches to a variety of different tool heads. But I found with the broom (as well as the WOLF-Garten rake I reviewed) that the handle attachment is loose and tends to rotate, wobble, and shift during use. It’s hard to work efficiently when it feels like the tool you’re using is going to fall apart at any moment. Eschew the Multi-Star for the galaxy of firm-handled brooms.

And while it might sound ironic after mentioning the potential longevity of a broom, one should also not overlook how readily they can be disposed of and replaced. As mentioned, even the most expensive broom and dustpan set you are likely to purchase will cost only thirty or forty dollars at most; you can get several years of use out of the set and then dispose of and replace it.

This broom will get your floors cleaner than ever, and you will love it because it will take you less time and less effort to do it. As you sweep with this rubber broom, the pliable bristles will conform to the surface you are cleaning and build a strong static charge. A solid wall of sweeping rubber will remove all dirt in a single pass, and the static charge will help to pull the dirt along as well as keep things like fur and hair from flying away. This makes your job easier because it will take less sweeping to get the job done in the first place, and less RE-sweeping to keep it piled long enough to pick it up. This rubber broom is safe for use on any hard floor, and will never harm delicate surfaces like hardwood or natural stone. When sweeping tile and concrete, the flexible and sturdy bristles will reach down to clean the cracks and grout as you sweep, so nothing is left behind, and you don’t need to spend extra time or use special maneuvers to accomplish it. This is the best broom you will ever use, so don’t be fooled by cheap imitations. Thanks to superior features, better materials and more durable construction, this broom will outperform and outlast any similar looking one you may find.

What’s the pedigree of a great dust cloth? It’s white, and it’s made of 100 percent cotton. Cotton is absorbent, trapping dust instead of scattering it, and it won’t scratch fine furniture. White dust cloths show the dirt as you work and are washable, reusable and may be bleached. For an eco-friendly, frugal touch, recycle and repurpose old-fashioned unfolded diapers, squares of terry toweling or stained damask napkins as durable dust cloths.

The Rubbermaid FG638100 Red 1-Inch Handle Standard Corn Broom ($12) is “designed for rugged outdoor cleaning,” according to the manufacturer’s description, but it was smaller, lighter, and much less stiff than the other corn brooms in my sample. It simply was too soft and bendy to sweep pine needle debris or sand effectively, and it wasn’t terribly good at dislodging leaves from cracks in the deck, either. That said, it’s certainly cheap, so it’s a fine alternative if you’d actually like to buy a broom to sweep your kitchen.

This heavy duty tool hook is perfect to maximize space for any workshop or garage. Hang hammers, shovels, garden tools and power tools up to 50 lbs. on these industrial hooks. The tool hook features a non-slip grip to keep tools in place and easily accessible.

Used many of the items on this list. They ALL fail in under a year. They are cheap consumer crap (in my opinion). Buy a real corn broom with a wood handle (Rubbermaid makes them). They last for years, do a good job, last for years, are a joy to use, last for years. For fine dust/power purchase a horsehair/natural bristle broom. They last MUST longer than poly brooms and are a pleasure to own.

Swivel-head broom: This type of broom lets the broomstick bend where it meets the bristles. It gets in between tight spaces, and allows you to go underneath and around furniture, cabinets and appliances.

If the Casabella broom is unavailable or you don’t want to buy a separate dustpan, you should get the $14 Libman Large Precision Angle Broom with Dustpan instead. Its synthetic bristles are stiffer, thicker, and sparser than the Casabella’s, so it’s not as effective at sweeping, and the Libman doesn’t have a comfy grip like our pick. But it’s a few inches taller than the Casabella, has a wider sweeping surface, and a more severe head angle that’s better at reaching deep into corners. Plus, it comes with a (not so great) dustpan.

OXO– was founded by Sam Farber in 1990, with the aim of making easy-to-use kitchen utensils. (He chose the name OXO because it reads the same in every direction.) They were sold to General Housewares Corporation in 1992, and then bought by Helen of Troy, Ltd., in 2004.

The numbers by themselves might not mean much, Flemming said, but subtle changes in technique can lead to big differences in the quality of each stroke. And now curlers have that information at their disposal. They can experiment to see which stroke works best for them.

Matt Hamilton, a member of the United States men’s team, overhauled his sweeping technique after training with a SmartBroom. Curlers from countries as far afield as China, Denmark and Switzerland have leaned on it in their preparation for the Olympics. In all, Will Hamilton, who is not related to Matt Hamilton, said he had sold SmartBrooms to eight of the 13 national curling federations sending teams to Pyeongchang.

Hardwood flooring has become of the most popular residential flooring options in the past 15 years, mainly due to it’s durability and that it can be cleaned easily and quickly. It can also add considerable value as well as beauty to a home. However, if it’s not properly taken care of, in several years you will either need to have it refinished or even replaced, both at a significant cost. Taking proper care of your hardwood floors is even more important when you have expensive flooring such as maple, mahogany and cherry.  While there are many popular hardwood cleaning options and products on the market, in most cases a quality broom made for hardwood floors is the best option for daily floor sweeping & cleaning. While they don’t deep clean hardwood, they are gentle on the finish and will sweep away most of the dirt, dust and other solid materials left behind from normal foot traffic.

Next, the trickiest part of the project, I measured and marked where to attach the hinged top. To make the hinges align with the handles in the wood crate, simply measure to find the middle of each crate, above the handle.

If the ends of your broom’s bristles have grown frayed or are too dirty to clean — having come into contact with some substance like motor oil, paint, and the like — you can breathe new life into the broom by giving it a haircut, so to speak. Use a good pair of sharp scissors to trim away a half inch or so of the end of the bristles and you should be left with a broom that’s essentially as good as new, albeit a bit shorter.

It works pretty well on pet fur on my round throw rug but it would work better if the straight edge side wasn’t so flexible . It takes a good deal of effort to get the fur up when you are a 70 year old woman

Home Depot’s $13 HDX 15 in. All Purpose Large Angle Broom with Dust Pan is one of the worst brooms we tested. It isn’t effective at cleaning up flour or cat litter, and its dustpan’s lip is too steep.

With extended access hours, ground-floor spaces, and onsite dollies and handcarts, you certainly won’t be alone on move-in day. Some of our facilities even provide 24-hour access! If you opt for an outdoor space on the first floor, you’ll be able to park your car or moving truck at the front door of your storage unit. It doesn’t get simpler than that.

Oxo makes our list with a highly practical broom designed to deliver top-notch performance in any conditions. It is very ergonomic as well and can easily be maneuvered into places that are hard to reach, including far-reaching ceiling corners. The handle is soft and comfortable to grip whereas the all-angle functionality of this broom makes it one of the best choices out there at this point in time.

Lets say you spill something like yogurt and granola on your kitchen floor. If you took your regular broom out and tried to sweep it up, you would have no luck washing the surface, and you would be left with a nasty looking broom that has bristles that are all stuck together, and possibly ruined. Use this rubber broom instead, and the bristles are sturdy enough to actually sweep this thick goo. Both the liquidy yogurt, and the dry, chunky granola will be swept up together, and will be easily collected. Use the regular bristles to get most of it into the dust pan, and then flip over to the squeegee side to sweep in anything remaining. You will still have a residue on your flooring, so add some soap and water, or squirt down your favorite cleaner and then scrub quickly using the bristles again in order to leave the surface sparkling. If it gets a little too wet, flip back to the squeegee side, and then dry it with ease.

Seams are another reason to try a pair of gloves on. See how the seams feel. Seams can be located inside or outside of the glove. One style is constructed with the seam on the top of the palm, another with seams across the back. Try to imagine how the glove will feel after a full day of wear.

Where there’s life, there’s dust! Household dust is an airborne mix of soil particles, lint, insect parts, animal dander, pollen, molds and fungi. Dust comes in through the open window or or hitches a ride inside on shoes and clothing. It is stirred into the air by walking or careless dusting. Airborne dust irritates breathing passages and triggers allergic reactions in sensitive people. As it falls, it settles on fixtures, surfaces and floors, and clogs furnace filters and refrigerator coils, causing these appliances to work harder and consume more energy. Because dust is abrasive, walking on dusty floors can damage carpet, vinyl, or hardwood floors.
