Our illustrations and instructional process are based upon a 12′ x 24′ one-car garage with one man-door and one overhead door. We have broken the thinking-process down into the concept of the Long Garage Wall and the Short Garage Wall. This makes sense since they have to be framed separately for the reason that they meet at a ninety-degree (90°) angle at each outside corner.

It only took slightly longer to remove dried-on food soil than our top pick, the Bissell 19404 PowerFresh. It cleaned our high traffic areas at least as well as a conventional mop, without the hassle of hauling around a mop bucket and waiting ages for the floor to dry. Plus, you can start sanitizing the floor after three minutes of use, although you do need to pass over the area with a backward and forward motion at least 15 times.

For my garden salvage project, I used colorful outdoor spigot handles and a length of reclaimed door casing to create a cheery wall-hung tool rack. The handle hooks are great for keeping my hand trowels and rakes at the ready and for holding my sun hat.

* Drywall. If your garage is finished, you more than likely have drywall already in place. In many states it’s a requirement for fire code (check before tearing it down and replacing it with another material).

We have managed to keep the garage open enough for 2 vehicles- I think my husband put it in the marriage contract. Growing up we never had garage space and he knew I come from hoarder stock. That said- the top of the garage is in serious disarray!

Great Idea. I especially like your creative approach to fastening the PVC sections of pipe to the wall by cutting angles on each end. Much better than my first blush approach by drilling a larger hole on the opposite side of the mounting hole for insering a screw driver, which is why I haven’t done it yet. Now I can take your clever idea and put it to good use.

Now this is something that puts a lot of people off using a steam mop, but if you read the care manual properly, maintenance can be as easy as steaming your floors. Lots of steam mops come with at least two mop pads but they have to be looked after. Of course, they will eventually need replacing, but you must make sure you wash them immediately after use (especially after a heavy cleaning job), or at least rinse them and make sure they’re properly dried. If you don’t, mildew can set in which is one of the biggest reasons people have to replace them so often.

The trick to this is getting the sole and top plates to break under a stud center because your plate material will not be continuous, as in 24′ foot lengths. Most likely, you will be using one 9′ length and two 8′ lengths on the top and bottom and the 9′ length will be the one that we will cut first to land under the center of a stud. Although stud spacing is referred to as being on-center, you will discover that it is really edge-to-edge, as shown in the dimensions of the diagram above.

We were impressed with the wide variety of surfaces the Steamfast SF-370WH Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner was able to clean, from floors and baseboards to oven racks. In fact, we were so excited that we made a whole day of it, steam cleaning our fridge, oven, and walls. Thanks to the extension wands, we were even able to reach the ceiling.

For hand tools, you could repurpose one of those hanging shoe organizers, the fabric ones with the pockets (like this one), and hang that on the wall. Then you could use the pockets to store the hand tools. Or you could use a pegboard to hang your gardening hand tools on the wall just like any other tools. (the first tool on the left is my hori hori knife, one of my favorite gardening tools!)

Whether you’re looking for mop rack with an included utility shelf that can hold spray bottles and other cleaning supplies, or you’re in need of a broom rack with adjustable hooks that can hold handles of various thicknesses, we’re sure to have an option for you. Browse our durable stainless steel models for heavy-duty use, or go with a lighter weight plastic style. You can also choose your rack based on how many hooks are needed to organize your supplies.

Owners love the Bissell PowerFresh Steam Mop 1940, too, saying it works very well for steam cleaning your floor on a daily or weekly basis. It also does a good job of removing stains on grout, some say — and several reviewers post pictures to prove it. Many owners say they bought this mop because they felt that regular mops weren’t getting their patterned tile floor clean and are thrilled with the improved results.

We have numbered the walls as 1, 2, 3 and 4 which is the order that we will erect and brace each wall until we have all four walls up, squared, level, plumb, and ready to lock the washers and nuts down over the anchor-bolts. If your foundation isn’t exactly level, you can level the walls by placing shims under the sole plate until you have the wall lifted at the low spots. It is important to get the top plate level for the roof framing phase.

Let’s begin by looking at who doesn’t need a steam mop. Steam mop manufacturers claim their products work on a range of floors, but most flooring manufacturers—including companies that make hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and stick-on vinyl tile floors—explicitly warn against the use of steam mops. In fact, using a steam mop will usually void your floor’s warranty. Flooring maker Armstrong has a strongly worded blog post on steam cleaners; the summary is, don’t use them, especially on hardwood or engineered wood floors.

The Bissell Symphony Pet All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop also made fast work of cleaning up food soils, but the Bissell 19404 PowerFresh performed better in high traffic areas. The scrub tool and nylon utility brush attachments of the Steamfast SF-370WH Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner garnered excellent results in both areas, but it did not perform as highly with just the microfiber pad you would normally use to mop a floor.

Power Cord: Cord lengths on the models we last tested ranged from 16 to 30 feet. A short cord may limit you to a small cleanup job in a small room. And an extension cord may be unsafe with these high-wattage appliances.

Jumping the broom is an African-American wedding tradition that originated in marriages of slaves in the United States in the 19th century. Its revived popularity among African Americans is due to the 1976 novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family.[9]

This is a neat idea. I’ve not seen this before. And I like the labels too so EVERYONE knows where to put stuff back. This is great! I’d love to have you link this up to Titus 2 Tuesday on Cornerstone Confessions.

I’m not sure that storing paint in jars is a good idea. More than 10 years ago, I sponge painted my bathroom. I mixed 4 or 5 custom colors to sponge over the solid base coat. I poured the left over mixed colors into baby food jars. Now they are either dried out or the lids are stuck on so I can’t use the colors for touch ups. Some of the paint on the walls has blistered and cracked even though I added glaze and I have no way to duplicate the colors to make repairs. I will probably just cover some of them with small pictures or wide hooks for bathrobes, which are much needed anyway.

It hangs the items securely with each ball capable of holding a maximum of 7.5 lbs. The rolling balls are designed to automatically adjust to the thickness of the handles. Installation is very easy and fast (maximum of five minutes). All you will need are included screws and wall anchors, screwdriver (not included). It’s toughened ABS plastic construction makes it extremely strong and durable. The counterbore on which the crews for installation go may be too deep limiting the plastic screw needs to sit on and securely mount this to a wall. Manufacturers of this product will do well to correct this design flaw.

Use a table saw or circular saw to rip shelving 1/2 in. wider than the depth of the shelf bracket. Use 3/4-in.-thick plywood or solid wood for the shelves—it’s stronger and resists sagging better than any particleboard shelving product available.

The other key difference is that cylinder steam cleaners take longer to get ready – normally a few minutes – but the advantages are longer running times and less filling up. Some can even be topped up as you clean, so you don’t have to turn off the cleaner to keep going.

Features gun metal gray cabinets (GL Custom Steel) with a butcher block counter top, stainless steel pulls and a diamond plate backsplash. All gardeners, even the newbie ones, have some tools and supplies they need to know how to organize. Storing tool improperly can only lead to a mess pretty quickly. In order to avoid this problem, you need to know how to store your tools and supplies in an organized manner.

Installation is tool-less, easy and quick. Its broad, solid base provides optimal stability meaning it will not tip over even when large tools are stored on it. The broom holder has integrated holes at its top to let you anchor the tool rack to the wall. Although it can carry up to 30 tools, at times the weight may tip it over.

It’s a sturdy hand broom. I use it for my fireplace. The bristles don’t flake off, and it sweeps well. The corn isn’t inclined to burn when brushing ash and coal back into the fireplace. It’s bigger than the ones i used to get, and i was hoping it was smaller. Also, they shouldn’t cost what they do…i remember buying them at Ace for a couple bux back in the day, but i guess that’s the classic old timer’s complaint.
