Assembly: The assembly was straight-forward. With the help of a little Black & Decker Lithium powered screwdriver, I was able to make short work of the process. Make sure not to use a high-torque device or you will end up stripping out the wood and be up crap creek without a paddle. A large flat area is required so I just used the kitchen floor. All the holes lined up fine so the entire frame went together without a hitch. A couple of key things to note when installing the thin backing:
The top of the door was warped and does not fully close…maybe quarter of an inch. The closet serves its purpose. This was a very difficult item to locate so it was worth the price….could not find elsewhere.

Set up was very easy with all parts included. Ours is used to store our vacuum cleaner(tank style), as well as parts(on a glued in shelf) and a couple Swiffer sweepers. We located it in the corner of the garage right outside our door which allows easy access. We glued our 2 shelves in since they were placed in locations not pre-drilled’ plus added a 3rd near the top. See attached photos.

Not one hour after we heard YouTube had tentatively agreed to offer The Interview as a rental, Sony Pictures has confirmed the film will be available online starting today at 1PM ET. It’ll be offered through YouTube Movies, Google Play, Xbox Video, and a dedicated website SeeTheInterview.com.

The film will cost $5.99 to rent and $14.99 to own an HD copy. Notably absent from the list: Apple’s iTunes, which reportedly said no despite White House involvement, Amazon, and Sony’s own PlayStation Network.

Google put it best:

In an lengthier statement, Google said that after talking with Sony, the two companies agreed that we could not sit on the sidelines and allow a handful of people to determine the limits of free speech in another country (however silly the content might be).

Sony’s dedicated SeeTheInterview.com, which as of 1PM ET seems to be having some issues, will be powered by Stripe, who previously has worked with EFF.

More distributors are likely to follow but not necessarily on Christmas Day. Variety reports that Netflix is in talks and could potentially offer it to stream within a few days. And while iTunes wasn’t reportedly interested at least not a speedy time table, that doesn’t mean it won’t be available sooner rather than later. (It’s worth noting that you should be able to rent The Interview on Apple TV through the YouTube channel.)

Here’s the full statement from Sony Entertainment chairman and CEO Michael Lynton:

It has always been Sony’s intention to have a national platform on which to release this film. With that in mind, we reached out to Google, Microsoft and other partners last Wednesday, December 17th, when it became clear our initial release plans were not possible. We are pleased we can now join with our partners to offer the film nation-wide today. We never stopped pursuing as wide a release as possible for The Interview. It was essential for our studio to release this movie, especially given the assault upon our business and our employees by those who wanted to stop free speech. We chose the path of digital distribution first so as to reach as many people as possible on opening day, and we continue to seek other partners and platforms to further expand the release.I want to thank Google and Microsoft for helping make this a reality. This release represents our commitment to our filmmakers and free speech. While we couldn’t have predicted the road this movie traveled to get to this moment, I’m proud our fight was not for nothing and …

The ISO 26623 spindle interface is an innovative tooling system with maximum precision and particularly widespread in multi-task machines (turn-mill centres). The torque transmission and centring takes place via the polygon-shaped taper with flange surface contact. As a result, a fixed axial positioning and a high degree of torsional rigidity is achieved.

The traditional interface for milling spindles ASME B5.50 distinguishes itself through its extremely robust design. Its field of application ranges from fine machining to heavy duty roughing. The tool holder is pulled in the milling spindle with the help of an additional pull stud. The centering takes place via the taper contact. Therefore, the ASME B5.50 steep taper interface is primarily suitable for applications with a spindle speed of up to 12,000 rpm.

I just had one of the most positive auto mechanic experiences I’ve ever had. I’m driving a little Honda coupe in the mid-Hudson Valley (perhaps not the greatest choice of vehicles, especially in the winter), and last night the bumper all but ripped off due to the many potholes and other road hazards around here. I asked around, and several friends recommended I go to Triebel’s to get it looked at. I drove in right as they were opening up this morning, and asked the mechanic to take a look. Everyone I encountered was exceedingly friendly, even though it was 8:30 in the morning. The mechanic told me I could wait inside, and that it would just be a few minutes. Not even 15 minutes later, he comes back in and says he was able to pop it back on, and that it will hold up until I can eventually get a new bumper (which I’ve been needing for a while now anyway). I never felt condescended, like they thought I was an idiot who knew nothing about cars, which is how I normally feel when I go to an auto mechanic. And the best part: he didn’t charge me a dime. I kept persisting, but he wouldn’t take my money. I don’t say this so that people should go in there expecting handouts and free service, but to testify to Triebel’s incredible service. For the remainder of my time in the Hudson Valley, I’ll only be going to Triebel’s for any auto service.

Apple’s mobile operating system is once again dominating Google’s operating system when it comes to online shopping.

Adobe, which is tracking online shopping, reports the following: iOS users drove four times as much mobile sales revenue as Android users, 79 and 21 percent respectively.

IBM’s data produced similar findings:

iOS vs. Android: iOS once again led the way in mobile shopping this holiday season, outpacing Android across three key metrics on Black Friday:

Average Order Value: iOS users averaged $121.86 per order compared to $98.07 for Android users, a difference 24.3 percent.•
Online Traffic:
iOS traffic accounted for 34.2 percent of total online traffic, more than double that of Android, which drove 15 percent of all online traffic.•
Online Sales:
iOS sales accounted for 21.9 percent of total online sales, nearly quadruple that of Android, which drove 5.8 percent of all online sales.

This is important for a few reasons.

For years, people have talked about Apple’s tiny market share when it comes to the phone market. Globally, Apple has 12% of the smartphone market, according to Gartner. Android has 82%. In the US, Apple has 42% of the market, and Android has 52%, according to comScore.

Market share is important because typically in tech, it’s winner-take-all. The more people you have using your platform, the better you will do.

In theory, the more people use Android, the more developers and publishers will tailor their websites and their apps to Android. In theory, Apple’s iPhone will be a second class citizen with second class apps. Eventually people will bail on the iPhone if it’s offering a second class experience.

But, in practice, Android’s market share advantage means nothing because iOS is more popular when it comes to usage, as demonstrated by these shopping data points. If you’re making an app or a website, you want it to work best on iOS because that is where the most lucrative customers are. So, in practice, Apple gets the best apps and the best web experience because that’s what makes sense for companies and developers.

You could argue that this isn’t indicative of usage, but merely demonstrates that iOS users have more money to burn. If that’s the case, it’s good for iOS, too. People with money to burn are an attractive cohort of users for developers and companies.
The company is now showing users tweets from accounts they don’t follow. That’s a bigger deal than it seems.

When will Twitter no longer be Twitter?

This week, the company tested a change to its core product that could alter the service in a small but important way. According to Mashable, Twitter is altering the timeline of a small number of users, so that they see tweets from accounts they don’t follow.

Right now, users only see tweets for three reasons: They’re from an account that user follows; they were retweeted by an account that user follows; or they’re an ad. Now, a user might see tweets from an account that someone whom they follow follows, or a tweet that someone they follow favorited.

I can independently confirm this news because I am one of the users they’re testing on. Earlier this week, I was flicking through my Twitter timeline and found something odd: a tweet from a user I’d never seen before. A small line of text above the tweet informed me that it was there because a friend of mine favorited it.

This new feature seems a big deal, because it alters the central conceit of Twitter. Right now, users only only see tweets from users you follow. This is seemingly the feature that made Twitter Twitter. As Mashable found, users already appear annoyed to be seeing tweets of ambiguous origin.

WTF @twitter, why am I seeing tweets from accounts that I don’t follow but are followed by someone whom I follow?— aleefbaypay (@aleefbaypay) August 3, 2014

But users already see tweets from users they don’t follow. These tweets are ads. Twitter already accepts money to show users tweets from brands and personalities that they don’t follow, and while this method of display-ads-for-Twitter may frustrate users, but it’s the path the company has chosen.

No, this feature strikes me as a big deal because it breaks something that may seem less pressing: the fave. As The Atlantic has previously documented, users hit the fave button for many reasons. A fave can mean “I agree,” “This made me laugh,” or “good chat.” Often, the only two users aware of a fave are the faver and the favee.

There have long been ways to see other user’s faves. The Discover tab in the company’s official mobile app, for instance, lists all the faves a certain user has made that day. But by and large, other people’s faves didn’t just pop up on your screen.

By transforming what a fave does, this feature fundamentally changes what a fave is. Users will have to adjust, and that process will exact communal cos …
