Pull your car into the garage and measure how much space is available. Then look over what you need to store and figure out where it will fit. Generally it’s best to hang narrow shelves and smaller hooks lower where space is tight, with wider shelves up near the ceiling so you don’t bump your head or interfere with car doors.

While Andy was busy working on But First This, Simon Parkin returned to present the afternoon links, around a summer schedule including Gentle Ben, BBC Manchester’s sport series Move It!, a We Are The Champions special with Ron Pickering and the 1979 German drama The Legend Of Tim Tyler, dubbed into English. Simon’s features included namesakes – for example the two Paul Daniels seen here, more silly photos and his one-off, yet legendary, impression of Mickey Mouse.

DIY Pegboard Storage – Organize tools with a hanging storage station made of basic pegboard. Items will be in plain sight and within reach when needed, and everything on the pegboard is removable and adjustable, which makes changes or updates easy.

How: Houzz user Kara Gilbert sent in this photo of her organized broom closet with a shoe rack on the back of the door — perfect when you need to make a closet work as hard as possible. The shoe rack holds first-aid supplies and toiletries in labeled pouches, while bins on open shelving provide ample storage. A small wall-mounted holder keeps cleaning tools out of the way, and a vacuum with a small footprint sits on the floor.

Especially for BCC fan Gareth Noall, the wonderfully spooky, yet equally enchanting Moondial by Helen Cresswell. I watched this a couple of months ago, and it still holds up. I recommend you getting it if you can! – Calum

Ok, so you’re bound to have duct tape in your garage. you have several rolls of differently colored tapes or different types of tape, you can easily create a dispenser that mounts to the wall and keeps your tapes perfectly organized. A few boards and a hacksaw blade are all you need to create a great dispenser that not only keeps your tape organized, it cuts it the perfect length every time. Although the patent for this type of Closed Loop Mop Yarn has expired, it is still the preferred dust mop yarn choice of professional cleaners for use on all types of flooring and is the best option w…

On a pair of pencil marks between two sets of handles, drill pilot holes (be sure to switch to a smaller bit first) for the spring-clip fasteners, and twist in the screws. Now find a nice spot for your rack, install it using the proper hanging hardware for the wall type, and start organizing your garden tools.

Just to cut to the chase, if your casters won’t fit no matter how hard you push or how much you smack them with a mallet, it’s because the holes have been warped (due to a poor molding process in the factory, getting squished in transport, or melting or something). You absolutely can fix this by re-drilling those existing caster holes with a 7/16th drill bit, and the problem will be solved forever.

There are many different variations of dust mops, but I am going to focus on 3 common types. Cotton, Synthetic and Microfiber. I have used all of these over the years for dust mopping. Some are better than others, but this should help you know and understand the difference.

Simple and stylish, this baker’s rack solves the storage issues of the kitchen. This versatile kitchen tower features a warm, oak counter with a butcher-block style appearance. Above the countertop, the two deep wire shelves are perfect for showing off fancy plates or spices.

Good product but, I think the company can do better on price. Only reason I didn’t but it at Home Depot or Lowe’s was because of Amazon Prime and convenience. Having said that, it is a good product worth 5 stars but the price for a piece of heavy duty molded plastic dropped it to 4. One of the things that does give it a high score for me is that they interlock. I have 2 of them side by side and they look like one long tool holder and they really keep things neat.

If there is one other measure required for the London housing market, it is to clamp down on owners of vacant properties, or those that are used only a couple of weeks a year. But it isn’t the broom cupboards which languish empty: it is the mansions and cavernous penthouses into each of which you could squeeze a couple of dozen pied-a-terres. That would also mean a couple of dozen fewer people crammed into the Tube every morning, taking pressure off the transport system.

Gladiator GearTrack wall storage offers flexibility: You can mount the horizontal track, then choose suitable hangers and slide them where needed. See how to build your own flexible garage wall storage system.

A few years ago I was fortunate enough to have some money *and* a reliable contractor, and the result was a new garage. But once it was done, I couldn’t bring myself to put nails or hooks into the shiny new walls that I had just painted. So I went off to look at tool racks.

Good ideal. In the United States, where we’re still stuck in the metrology Dark Ages, wall studs are normally spaced 16 inches (406.4 mm) on center. By doing what you did, the rack will accommodate short, D-handle tools as well.

Really decent overall. If you’re planning on putting a lot onto it, similar to what’s shown in the picture, just know that the fit is a lot tighter than what’s shown. I’d recommend maybe 2/3 of what’s shown in the picture to have it feel decent if you’re using your tools often.

We learned that synthetic bristles are best for brooms because they’re immune to rot and can be cleaned with warm, soapy water. This means corn or horsehair bristles are out. The bristles must have flagged ends—intentionally frayed tips designed to capture dust, dirt, and hair at the broom’s sweeping surface. (In our survey and perusal of user reviews, we learned that many people think this fraying is a sign their broom is wearing out—not so!)

Cabinets are really not that difficult to install yourself and you can save a virtual fortune by doing so. You can purchase cabinets already built and then just hang them on the walls yourself. The cabinets are great for storing things and keeping the garage neat and tidy and depending on the size and number of cabinets that you get, you may be able to store everything away so that your garage always looks completely clean. The only exception to the above rules is if you live in a location where you have to pay per load to do your laundry. It’s not cost effective to pay more than 50 cents each time you wash your dust mop, so we recommend hand washing it instead in a bucket (or your sink, or bathtub) with warm water and our recommended detergent. Rinse very thoroughly, then hang to dry.

Ok, so we’ve mentioned pegboards a few times but they are honestly the easiest and most efficient way to organize garage items. You just have to hang the board on the wall and add the included hardware for storing just about anything. Some systems even include hooks and small bins to keep you completely organized from start to finish.

Finally, we searched for the best dust mop, because brooms and dust mops work best as a team. First, the broom sweeps up all the large, heavy particles and gets into tight corners. Then the dust mop makes a second pass to capture all the dirt, dust, and hair the broom couldn’t get. To determine the important features of a dust mop—how well it cleans and how long it lasts—we looked at the material, backing, and style of the cloth, as well as the dust mop’s frame and maneuverability.

The $24 Libman Freedom Floor Duster has a good chenille cloth, but its head is about the size of a Swiffer, so it can’t pick up as much dust as the O-Cedar. And the comb that comes with the Freedom Floor Duster is silly.

The phone-in game for this season was called Alphabet Attack. Like the Children’s BBC opening and closing animation, this was powered by an Acorn Archimedes computer. Players would be given a subject, and would then be asked to name something associated with said topic beginning with a letter generated by the computer. The operator of the game had control over letters selected, and on occasions when a phone line failed and a caller played against a presenter instead, the latter would be given hugely difficult letters – English town names beginning with X, for example.
