I will be recommending this place highly to everyone and I have already told several co-workers to come here (located near our work and my home, so this could not be more perfect of a location for me).

I called two other places and both estimated full rotor and pad replacement on front and rear at $800. Ultimately, I went to a big chain tire shop where I got the brakes replaced for $800 minus an $80 coupon and the alignment done for $99. Total in and out for less than $900 vs a quote of $1760 at Tooles.

It is vital that you move your refrigerator and mop the floor it sits on every couple of months. The area surrounding the fridge sees a lot of action, from spilled drinks to crumbs of food flying out of Tupperware. These things can get stuck under the fridge, grow mold, and attract termites and other bugs.

For the enthusiasts who want to tackle the bodywork side of building a hot rod, we’d suggest investing in a good sanding block. We’re not talking about the rubber deal you can get at the local department store—we’re talking about something that will actually help you straighten the panels to perfection. This flexible sanding block is a new item from Mac Tools, and it’s available in 7-3/4 inches and 15-3/4 inches (shown). The flexible design and spring loaded center pin offer excellent flexibility for contoured shapes.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I’ve been looking for a shelf in my powder room, and hadn’t thought about using a ladder. I’ll be featuring this tonight on Best of the Weekend! Thanks so much for linking up, and hope to see you back again tonight!

In Disney’s 1940 film Fantasia, Mickey Mouse, playing The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, brings a broom to life to do his chore of filling a well full of water. The broom overdoes its job and when chopped into pieces, each splinter becomes a new broom that flood the room until Yen Sid stops them. This story comes from a poem by Goethe called Der Zauberlehrling (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice). The Disney brooms have had recurring cameos in Disney media, mostly portrayed as janitors, albeit not out of control or causing chaos such as in the original appearance.

Tuck medium and lightweight stuff onto shelves suspended from the ceiling. The shelves are designed to fit into that unused space above the garage doors (you need 16 in. of clearance to fit a shelf and standard 12-1/2 in. high plastic bins). However, you can adjust the shelf height and put them anywhere. The only limitation is weight. We designed this 4 x 6-ft. shelf to hold about 160 lbs., a load that typical ceiling framing can safely support. It’s best to save the shelf for “deep storage,” using labeled bins with lids, because you’ll need a stepladder to reach stuff. First, find which way the joists run, then plan to hang one shelf support from three adjacent joists (Photo 2). Our joists are 24 in. apart; if yours are spaced at 16 in., skip one intermediate joist. We built ours to hold plastic bins, but if you put loose stuff up there, add 1×4 sides to keep things from falling off. Assemble the 2x4s as shown (Figure A), using 5-in. corner braces ($2 each) and 1/4-in. x 1-in. hex head lag screws (drill pilot holes first).

This is quickly becoming a must-have tool for car guys. Cordless impacts offer crazy amounts of torque, and with a 20-volt lithium ion battery, this American-made Mac Tools version is ready for action. If you’re changing wheels in the driveway, pulling parts in a junkyard or wrenching in the pits at your local drag strip, this 1/2-inch cordless impact needs to be in your arsenal.

Question for you or anyone else: does anyone know if you can use a bunk bed ladder for something like this? I have one…we got beds for the kids at Costco and you could either use them as 2 twins (which we did) or bunks. The ladder is still in the box in our basement…I’ve been thinking of using it for something like this but wondered if anyone out there had words of wisdom or advice on so doing?

Alarm clock, books, candles: each has a place on this ladder-turned-nightstand that’s just the right height. Stash magazines on the wire rungs, or cover with fabric or lumber for storing smaller objects.

Drill 1-in. holes spaced every 4 in. in the PVC pipe. Use a utility knife to cut slits in the foam noodle, spacing them 4 in. apart. Line up the pool noodle on the wall so that at least two of the slits sit over studs. Pull those slits apart, slide in a fender washer, and screw the noodle to the wall with 2-in. screws. Then screw the PVC pipe to the wall beneath it at a comfortable height and insert your fishing rods. Look Ma, no more tangles!
