Why is this broom so effective? Most of the magic is in the bristles. The Casabella has 2,880 bristles; 96 clumps with 30 bristles each arranged in four staggered rows. Because the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) bristles are so dense and well-arranged, they create a thick forest for sweeping and trapping dust, ensuring that few particles are left behind. Our pick is about 25 percent thicker than our runner-up, which has 2,184 bristles, arranged in four rows that leave small, diagonal paths through the broom for dust and other particles to escape while you sweep.
Your garage doesn’t necessarily have to look like a garage. You can paint and add a bit of color if you want to help brighten up that space. If you have steps going into your home for instance, you can paint them a bright color and add a little message to anyone who steps over them. This is a great way to brighten up an otherwise dull and boring space. Via: Landeeseelandeedo – Garage Steps Can Be Pretty Too
Dust mopping floors is one of the most important steps in any floor care maintenance program. As with any type of cleaning, removing dry soils before adding liquid makes the entire process much easier. Because dust mopping is usually done dry, it also allows the floor to be cleaned while the area is being used. There is no chance of anyone slipping and falling and makes it possible to remove surface soils sooner to keep foot traffic from grinding dirt into the floor finish.

Harper brooms: made in the USA, very soft, densely packed, flagged bristles, wide head. Takes the place of a dust mop for me. Available at independent hardware stores like Ace, Do It Best, True Value, etc. More expensive but last a long time and have replaceable, wooden heads. Quality and performance, the best brooms I’ve used.

The dust mop heads are durable, aside from some stitching issues on the refills (detailed below). Several other dust mop heads frayed or fell apart in the wash, but the O-Cedar was almost like new after months of use and 5 washes. Our pick’s chenille nubs and microfiber pad never snagged on wooden floors, a problem we encountered with the Swiffer and a few other dust mops.

The Microfiber material is very effective catching dust/pet fur off the hardwood floors. On first touch I thought it was sprayed with something to create the mild stickiness of the material. It is not sprayed with anything. Microfiber is designed that way to attract dust. Very effective in removing/attracting just about anything on the floor. I have large areas of hardwood and the microfiber works perfectly at cleaning fur and small particles from the surface. Very pleased with that part of the mop.

The key to keeping your garage organized is having a place for everything. Hanging things takes up little to no floor space and utilizes wall space that is typically left forgotten. Putting up a few shelves and hanging systems gives you a place to store plastic bins with items in them as well as larger items like bikes that will hang right on the wall to save space. There is a reason most commercial businesses don’t buy cheap brooms from the hardware store. They don’t last, they don’t clean well and they are expensive. Pay a little more and buy quality commercial products and save money in the long run. You will be more environmentally friendly, reduce waste and have a cleaner home to boot.
