24 (610mm) long. Type 304 stainless steel, satin finish. Anti-slip mop holders have spring-loaded rubber cam that grips handles 7⁄8 to 1 1⁄4 (20–30mm) diameter. Holds 3 mops 3 1⁄4 (85mm) from wall. Height 5 (125mm).

So will the shared wall and any wall that that supports the floor above. Since one wall with be mostly overhead doors, there is probably only one wall left that might or might not have to be protected with drywall.

Once you have walls 1 and 2 up, aligned, and braced, you can erect wall 3 and secure it to walls 1 and 2 in accordance with the diagram shown on the left. You do this before adding any bracing, which will only be required at the middle of wall 3 for aligning with the use of the string as described above. Use the same procedure described above for aligning the sole plate and then move on to wall 4. When erecting wall 4 use all the same procedures and run a brace to each side of the rough opening for the overhead door.

Love your organizing idea, especially since our before picture looks so similar to yours. I don’t have a band saw, just a table saw and chain saw. Any chance you’d think of marketing bags of already cut and drilled PVC. I’d be a happy customer. Cheers to you! Sandra

Carpet in a garage? I am that person. I was reading a section above and saw that. I love woodworking and restoring, up cycling, recycling and refurbishing! I LOVE carpet because it helps trap the dirt and dust. It makes it SO much easier to clean and BREATH! Just an idea! I will never have anything but carpet in my garage/workspace. Just an idea!

The Bissell PowerFresh 1940 is very easy to use, say owners — just fill, plug it in, wait about 30 seconds, and start mopping. And testing at YourBestDigs.com found that it does heat up that quickly. Some owners would rather see a dedicated power switch rather than plugging in and unplugging the mop to turn it on and off, though. The PowerFresh’s 15-ounce water tank produces about 15 minutes of steam on the high setting, and up to 30 minutes on lower settings. YourBestDigs.com found that 20 minutes was about average.

It hangs the items securely with each ball capable of holding a maximum of 7.5 lbs. The rolling balls are designed to automatically adjust to the thickness of the handles. Installation is very easy and fast (maximum of five minutes). All you will need are included screws and wall anchors, screwdriver (not included). It’s toughened ABS plastic construction makes it extremely strong and durable. The counterbore on which the crews for installation go may be too deep limiting the plastic screw needs to sit on and securely mount this to a wall. Manufacturers of this product will do well to correct this design flaw.

A steam mop does the hard work for you. You don’t have to get down on your hands and knees to scrub. You don’t have to lug around or empty heavy buckets of dirty water, either, making it a good option if you have joint issues or pain.

Before you can begin cleaning and organizing the garage, you have to sort what you have stored in there. Grab a lot of boxes and start organizing things by similarity. Once you know what you have and what you need to store, you can hang hooks, put up shelves to hold plastic bins and otherwise get everything perfectly organized. Typical stonework in Marblehead. Nestled alongside a charming home in Massachusetts, this garage has the very same storybook really feel as the main house. A lot of Houzzers saved this photo for its lovely personalized garage doors made of dark timber.

On a pair of pencil marks between two sets of handles, drill pilot holes (be sure to switch to a smaller bit first) for the spring-clip fasteners, and twist in the screws. Now find a nice spot for your rack, install it using the proper hanging hardware for the wall type, and start organizing your garden tools.

The Shark Steam Pocket (S3501) (Est. $55) is a more affordable option that does well in professional testing. It also receives thousands of owner reviews that are nearly as high as those of the Bissell PowerFresh. This Shark steam mop is the number four mop after testing at YourBestDigs.com, but the number two mop is actually a steam cleaner (which we cover in a separate report) and the number three steam mop, our former runner up in this category, the Shark Professional Steam Pocket 3601D (Est. $100) was recently discontinued, although it’s still available at retail for now.

To assemble the long garage wall framing components we will start with the 2 x 4 sole plate and top plate by laying lengths of 2 x 4 material side by side on the ground or garage floor. We are going to be marking the location of each stud on them simultaneously with a small framing square that is 1-1/2 wide. It is the same width as a 2 x 4 stud for the purpose of easy markings with a pencil.

If you are looking for a hard (stiff) bristle hand broom that does NOT require any finesse then this will be a good choice for you but if you need something more pliable for for light debris cleaning (like ashes and light particulate) then this might not be the right product.

The Ewbank 830UKR Evolution 3 Manual Floor and The Ewbank 830UKR Evolution 3 Manual Floor and Carpet Sweeper is a bag-less and cord-free alternative to the traditional vacuum and cleans hard wood floors and carpets picking up dust lint crumbs pet hair and other fine particles. The word broom derives from the name of certain thorny shrubs (Genista and others) used for sweeping.[1] The name of the shrubs began to be used for the household implement in Late Middle English and gradually replaced the earlier besom during the Early Modern English period. The song Buy Broom Buzzems (by William Purvis 1752–1832) still refers to the broom besom as one type of besom (i.e. a besom made from broom).

Now, lay all of your plates in order as shown in the diagram at the left with the top plates above the sole plates and use the small framing square to start laying-out the 2 x 4 stud locations. Start at the left side where the first stud will go and align the square with the edge of the plates and mark a 1-1/2 wide space with your pencil and place an X in the middle of the mark. That means a full length stud goes there. Now measure over with your tape a full 16 and mark it. Place your square on the plates and draw a line on each side of the 1-1/2 wide blade.

With a steam mop, drying time is greatly reduced. However, if you have particularly difficult stains to remove, most models will need you to hold the mop head over that area for a while. When this happens, you may find the steam turns back into water leaving some residue behind.

* Drywall. If your garage is finished, you more than likely have drywall already in place. In many states it’s a requirement for fire code (check before tearing it down and replacing it with another material).

Buy a cylinder steam cleaner if you find upright steam mops too heavy. While some of the large cylinder steam cleaners are heavier overall, the fact that they’re on wheels means they’re easier to lug about. Most do all the same things a 2-in-1 steam mop will do, while very compact models exist that you can carry on your shoulder.

Consider a cupboard WHAT YOU’LL NEED: Shifting spanner, screwdriver, allen keys (to put the cupboard together) HOW TO: Adding a cupboard with lockable doors creates storage space that will keep dangerous items safe. Use it to store chemicals, pesticides, paint thinners and the like. Smaller cupboards can be wall-mounted while larger units simply sit on the floor. AVERAGE TIME: 1 hour.

– for a door in the shared wall: solid wood doors not less than 1 3/8 in thickness, solid or honeycomb-core steel doors not less than 1 3/8 thick, or 20-minute fire-rated doors, equipped with a self-closing device. [This can be difficult to understand at first: only a door assembly – a door panel and a frame – can have a fire-rating. The intent of the code is to require a door panel that would pass a 20 minute fire-rated assembly test IF it had been installed in a fire-rated frame and installed in a fire-rated wall, neither of which is required by the code. The net effect of the these code requirements is to create a 20-minute Smoke Door. The wall would probably only last 10 minutes if exposed to fire from the garage side.]

The Shark Blast & Scrub is also a bit much, giving you a mop that can turn into a curtain steamer, an ironlike hand steam cleaner, a spray-bottle hard floor cleaner (the same as the Shark we recommend), and a dust-wand-style attachment (that, of course, also releases steam). As an actual steam mop that cleans floors, it’s fine, but not any better than the Pocket Mop we recommend. If you want to clean your curtains and other upholstery, read our guide to the best upholstery steamer. Shark’s S6001 Genius Mop, a variant of our upgrade pick, requires that you pump the handle to issue steam, and for $100, nobody should have to do that.

Garage Tips: Just use one nail in the brace where it sits against the stud in the wall so you can pivot the brace up and down until you can nail it at the outer end. Then, when your are satisfied with the alignment, add an extra nail to the brace at the wall stud and the stake in the earth.

Mount a towel rack with S-hooks on the fence near your garden. If there’s one area of your garden you work in a lot, consider hanging a small towel rack close by so you always have your tools handy. Use S-hooks to hang small garden tools from the rack.[12]

Use a table saw or circular saw to rip shelving 1/2 in. wider than the depth of the shelf bracket. Use 3/4-in.-thick plywood or solid wood for the shelves—it’s stronger and resists sagging better than any particleboard shelving product available.
