If you haven’t painted the locker yet, now is a good time. Install the doors. Start by nailing a scrap piece of wood in front of the opening so the top is 1-1/2 in. from the bottom of the locker. Drill pilot holes and attach heavy-duty door hinges to the top and bottom of both doors. Set both doors in place over the scrap lumber. Insert shims so the doors don’t pinch at the top and side, then attach the hinges to the door supports with screws (Photo 9). Add handles and a lock as desired.

Spanish broom: Stems often leafless, round in cross-section, finely ridged, glabrous. Leaves simple, sparse, ephemeral, linear to elliptic or lanceolate, 10-30 mm long. Upper surfaces glabrous. Lower surfaces covered with flattened short hairs. Stipules lacking.
The FDA considers broom an unsafe herb. Symptoms of toxicity suggest nicotine poisoning and are characterized by tachycardia with circulatory collapse, nausea, diarrhea, vertigo and stupor. The seeds have been used as a coffee substitute, a dangerous and unwarranted practice. 3
It definitely sounds like a stud finder is necessary. Indoors, probably on a wall would keep bikes more out of the way than on a ceiling, I’m thinking. Is there a way to figure where electrical conduit and wires would typically be, or would a wood/metal differentiating finder be advisable?
Scotch broom: Several species of ants are attracted to the seed appendages and disperse seeds while foraging. Seeds can survive 30 years or more under field conditions. About 50% of seeds produced in a season remain dormant. Scarification and/or a period of cool, moist vernalization enhances germination. Seeds heated to temperatures above 150º C for 2 minutes are killed, and seeds heated to 100º C for 1 minute appear to be more susceptible to fungal pathogens. Yet, burning in the field often appears to stimulate germination. Seeds germinate after the first rains in fall through early summer in inland areas, and winter through mid-summer in coastal regions. Seedlings can emerge from soil depths up to 8 cm, with optimal emergence from ~ 2 cm. Seedlings are subject to high summer mortality and browsing by wildlife during the first 2 years. Plants typically grow rapidly during years 3-4, often reaching a height of 2 m. Seed production begins during years 2 or 3, usually when plants reach a height of ~ 1 m. Shrubs are fully reproductive from years 3-5 through ~ 9. A mature shrub can produce ~ 2000-3500 pods. Seed production can decrease significantly during drought years. Individual shrubs live ~ 10-15(20) years.
Hey Newf, you were right. The stud finder scanned the studs just fine in deep scan mode (and sometimes partially detected them in normal mode). By far most of the project was just pinpointing the stud to use. The remaining two steps of drilling the pilot hole and installing the hook were really quick and a piece of cake, after that.
On the east and west coasts of North America, common broom (Cytisus scoparius) was introduced as an ornamental plant (i.e.:California since the 1860s). It is known in much of the pacific northwest as Scotch broom. It has become a naturalised invasive weed, and due to its aggressive seed dispersal broom removal has proved very difficult. Similarly, it is a major problem species in the cooler and wetter areas of southern Australia and New Zealand. Biological control for broom in New Zealand has been investigated since the mid-1980s. On the west coast of the United States, French broom (Genista monspessulana), Mediterranean broom (Genista linifolia) and Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) are also considered noxious invasives, as broom quickly crowds out native vegetation, and grow most prolifically in the least accessible areas.
French broom: Evergreen. This is the most widespread and perhaps most aggressive of the brooms. Yet, the biology of this species is poorly understood. Introduced from the Mediterranean region and Azores Islands. In California, many plants identified as French broom may actually be hybrids involving two very similar species, Canary Island broom [Genista canariensis L.] and narrow-petalled or leafy broom [G. stenopetala Webb & Berth].
Before the advent of hops, the tender green tops were used to impart bitterness and to increase the intoxicating effects of beer. In homeopathy, extracts of the plant are used for the management of arrhythmias, congestion of the head and throat, and occasionally for diphtheria. 3

You can make your own brooms! If you have a green thumb, you can start by growing your own broomcorn. But even if you can’t grow broomcorn, you can order it from a supplier (see Resources at the end of this article). Photos for each step of the broom-making process are available in the Image Gallery; see link above.
While developing the broom machine, its inventors also examined the broom handle, looking for a better way to secure the sorghum tassels to it. These inventors drilled two holes in the handle and inserted split pegs into the round holes. The broom corn was lashed onto the handle and pegs, using linen twine.

Check the mop head each time you mop to make certain it is fastened tightly. If the mop head is not on the handle properly, metal or plastic components may scrape the floor. For this reason also, replace mop heads whenever they show signs of tearing or falling apart.
