All gardeners, even the newbie ones, have some tools and supplies they need to know how to organize. Storing tool improperly can only lead to a mess pretty quickly. In order to avoid this problem, you need to know how to store your tools and supplies in an organized manner.

I bought this today at my local Walmart on Mobile Hwy in Pensacola FL. Read the instructions carefully. Assembling the mop was easy, putting the 2 piece handle together was a little sticky but I went slow and used my body weight to slowly get it to move. The rest of it was simple. The mop comes with a measuring cup and if you fill to the end of the frosted plastic that’s the exact amount it holds. Plug it in and wait 30 seconds then pump it a few time to prime it before cleaning. Most people forget this step and it’s very important. You need to do this every time you use it. I pumped mine about 10 times. As you mop you will continue to pump the mop with the up and down motion and this produces the steam. I had mopped yesterday so I didn’t really think it would be very dirty but was I wrong. My floors felt good to the touch. Very smooth. I was going to buy another mop but decided to splurge on this one and am so happy I did. What a great tool. It does take more time than a conventional mop but the cleaning difference in the two is remarkable. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

A separate tank for detergent can be found in the floor-head, but detergent isn’t mandatory. The machine heats up in just three seconds, after which it’s full steam ahead for up to 15 minutes. That’s a respectable cleaning time for a small tank.

Leaf rakes are handy for raking leaves and for general cleaning-up of garden debris. Some are available with adjustable metal tines, which make clean up a breeze in-between plants and in narrow spaces. Look for an ergonomic handle and comfortable grip to reduce the stress on your back and hands.

The Vax Steam Fresh Combi S86-SF-C is a great 2-in-1 that excels in pretty much every circumstance. Moreover, unlike some 2-in-1s, you can store most of the tools on the mop itself, which makes life much easier.

You could also get bins or boxes to organize hand tools and supplies on the shelf. I like to use either clear storage bins, or put a piece of tape and mark what’s in the bin so I know where everything is at a glance.

This is one of those clever “Why didn’t I think of that?” ideas. So simple, too! Use a sturdy kitchen paper towel holder (like this one shown in the picture) for your garbage bags in the garage. Because garbage bags are considerably heavier than paper towels, you’ll want to make sure the towel holder is secured well to the wall. You would also need a skinny rod to ensure that it will fit through the small opening in the center of the garbage bags.

A garage is an optimal place to organize and store not only garage gear but also off-season belongings. This space recruits a variety of storage options, such as a freestanding shelving unit to hold things like cleaning supplies and dog food and a pegboard for tools to maintain a sense of order. A wooden shelf was installed over the door to tuck away seasonal supplies.

Installation is tool-less, easy and quick. Its broad, solid base provides optimal stability meaning it will not tip over even when large tools are stored on it. The broom holder has integrated holes at its top to let you anchor the tool rack to the wall. Although it can carry up to 30 tools, at times the weight may tip it over.

Make a pencil mark on the wood where you want each handle to go, keeping in mind that the handles should be evenly spaced. In place of two handles, I used vintage spring clips—great for holding long-handled tools—that I scored at a flea market, but hardware stores sell new clips in various shapes and sizes.

Then you could include every little thing else as space allows. As you do this, start to think about the type of storage space you might need. Discover innovative means to make use of pegboard for storage.

What about that belt hanger taking up space in your closet? Put it to better use in the tool shed. The prongs on the hanger made a convenient place to store partially used packets of seeds. After opening the packet, just clamp the top shut with an office clip and hang it on one of the hooks.

Next I had to deal with the garden tools. This project all started from an inspiration in a post I had pinned previously. It is a sketch from Living the Country Life. The suggestion is to use 12 lengths of PVC pipe to create a tool holder.

You might expect a steam mop to be more convenient than an ordinary squeeze mop, with no squeegee to squeeze and no pail of water to deal with. You might also expect the steam to loosen dried food spills effectively, and perhaps even sanitize floors and other surfaces. But not all of these expectations matched the reality when we last tested these products.

If you don’t already have a mud room, the garage is the perfect place to set one up. A few locker cabinets and some canvas totes give you the perfect place to keep jackets and muddy shoes from entering your home. You can set this system up just inside the garage door and save yourself from mopping every time someone comes in. Via: BHG – Cubbies for Kids

You can find tracks with hooks on them at your local hardware store and these are great for organizing the garage. Just hang the track on the wall and the hooks store all sorts of things. They are easily changeable, too so you can keep organized no matter what the season. Via: Maryorganizes – Garage Organization for Real Families

Overhead shelving attaches to your ceiling joists, keeping less frequently used items out of the way. These shelves are ideal for seasonal items. Use plastic storage bins so you can easily see what’s inside and keep everything dust-free.

The cabinetry was replaced with GL Custom Steel cabinetry that can store golf bags and other sporting equipment. A khaki slatwall provides wall-mounted storage for a hose reel, baskets and hooks. New lights were installed and the garage was given a fresh coat of paint.
