Is that Libman the same one sold at Target? My Target had two Libman angled brooms, but neither was labeled ‘Large’. (I know that might sound nitpicky, but with some of these products, any deviation in name means it’s not the one you tested)

For this reason, you want a broom that is built to last, one that will handle day-to-day usage without showing any signs of damage in the long run. To give you a better idea of what to look for, we put together a list of the ten best brooms money can buy.

Angled synthetic brooms are lightweight and work well to clean near baseboards, behind furniture and in corners. Use them indoors, as their lighter weight makes them impractical for heavier outdoor jobs. Store synthetic brooms head-up to avoid bending the bristles.

Totes, baskets, and storage cubes are key elements in organizing any area of your home. Whether it be your closet, garage, or an outdoor area, these products are great for organizing and neatly stashing household clutter. You can move these around easily where you need them, too. Home storage doesn’t have to be complicated. That’s where we come in, we make home organization easy.

I went to Amazon for the broom and noticed it says “Usually ships within 2 to 5 months.” I don’t think most people are going to want to wait that long. If you order through Casabella that includes a shipping charge unless you tack on $25 worth of merchandise. It kind of makes for a really expensive $10 broom.

For that same price, around $32, I can get about four years of life out of our reusable dust mop pick. Electricity and water prices vary, as does washer efficiency, but here’s how I calculated my costs: In New York City, a single warm load of laundry costs about 30 cents (7 cents for electricity, 5 cents for water, and 18 cents for our recommended detergent). Washing bi-weekly comes out to $7.80 per year. After four full years, my cost will be about $32, which is what the Swiffer refills totaled after just one year. Of course, I’ll have washed the reusable refill 100 times by then, and that means I’ll need to buy a $10 replacement, which brings my total to $42. If I use Swiffer sheets for the same period of time, I’d need about 624 sheets—that’s $130 total.

Oxo makes our list with a highly practical broom designed to deliver top-notch performance in any conditions. It is very ergonomic as well and can easily be maneuvered into places that are hard to reach, including far-reaching ceiling corners. The handle is soft and comfortable to grip whereas the all-angle functionality of this broom makes it one of the best choices out there at this point in time.

The Swiffer also feels cheap and poorly made compared with most dust mops we tested. The snap-in pole (you know, the kind with the little buttons you press in) is separated into four segments, and they assemble into a rattly, flimsy handle that flexes under light pressure and is uncomfortable to hold. Our pick, the O-Cedar Dual-Action Flip Mop, has a solid plastic-coated steel pole that doesn’t creak or flex under ordinary pressure.

At first look, I wondered what would one do with a rubber broom? I’ve actually found it to be useful for many things both inside and out. For example, raking pine needles off the roof. I love this broom!!!

The cleaner does not have to have a bucket of water with him/her when sweeping the floor, but simply carries an appropriate number of mops. This means the weight of the equipment can often be kept lower.

Other brooms force you to waste time an energy while causing dirt, hair and other debris to fly all over, or be left behind as you sweep. Traditional bristles will float over the top or allow particles to sneak between, which forces you to make extra passes or deal with less than clean floors. Not only do these traditional tools produce mediocre results when sweeping the floor in your home, they also tend to wear out quickly. Since they don’t work very well when brand new, an old one is nearly useless. This household rubber broom features a 12 sweeping head that is a solid piece of natural molded rubber. This makes it nearly indestructible, incredibly long lasting, and perfectly suited for cleaning any type of hard floor. It will be easier to use than regular versions, and will also produce better results. Unlike old-school tools that may be better or worse at certain jobs, this broom is able to excel at them all. No type of dirt is hard to sweep when you use this broom, so you will be able to remove stubborn and annoying debris without breaking a sweat to leave more time in your day for activities you enjoy.

I just installed my second one of these units, they work great. I did have one hook that was defective this time, called the company, got a person who transferred me to Shaun where I got voicemail, grr. I hung up, but before I could put the phone down Shaun called me back (caller ID), quickly understood the problem and sent me a new hook, no problem. Given that they come with more than enough hooks it wasn’t a big issue but the service was awesome. I am now scanning my garage trying to figure where I can fit another one…

Despite all the modern inventions to save us effort doing household chores, there are certain tasks that are still best done the old-fashioned way. Sweeping the floor, or a sidewalk, or walkway is one of those tasks. Still, there are different types of brooms, and each one is good on a different type of surface. You also have to be aware of what kind of things can you pick up with the broom: Is it good for getting up spills as well, or only for dry dust and sand? Here is a guide to some of the best brooms on the market.

Your product will be shipped to its final destination to arrive in 2 business days or faster. The $24 Libman Freedom Floor Duster has a good chenille cloth, but its head is about the size of a Swiffer, so it can’t pick up as much dust as the O-Cedar. And the comb that comes with the Freedom Floor Duster is silly.

Step three: Divide and conquer by breaking the room up into smaller sections, and then sweep each one using “fairly short deliberate strokes,” she says. Deal with each pile of dirt you create by sweeping it into a dustpan within that section—don’t try to move that pile all around! As for that “dreaded line of dirt” that the pan always seems to leave behind—which Maker refers to as “crazy-making,” and we don’t blame her—she recommends dealing with it using a damp paper towel.

The other reason to choose an outdoor broom is water. Many indoor brooms are “corn brooms” made of straw, which will moulder and rot if they exposed to water for too long. If you live in a climate where it rains regularly, sooner or later you will sweep something damp…or something icky that you’ll want to wash out of your broom (“Look what the dog left under that pile of leaves!”) Life is easier if you start with artificial fibers, which is what our top outdoor broom picks are made of.

A kooky (and brilliant) new angle—these bent bristles encourage an efficient, ergonomic stroke. And they’re unmatched for dislodging dirt, leaves, petals, and pine needles. Once you master the motion, you might just want to take on the whole block.
