With just a few pieces of scrap wood you can keep your recycle bins from taking up valuable floor space with inexpensive materials you probably already have laying around in the garage. This also makes each one easy to access and remove, as opposed to having them stacked on top of each other. Check out the detailed instructions over at Handyman.

* Drywall. If your garage is finished, you more than likely have drywall already in place. In many states it’s a requirement for fire code (check before tearing it down and replacing it with another material).
Great Idea. I especially like your creative approach to fastening the PVC sections of pipe to the wall by cutting angles on each end. Much better than my first blush approach by drilling a larger hole on the opposite side of the mounting hole for insering a screw driver, which is why I haven’t done it yet. Now I can take your clever idea and put it to good use.
If you don’t already have a mud room, the garage is the perfect place to set one up. A few locker cabinets and some canvas totes give you the perfect place to keep jackets and muddy shoes from entering your home. You can set this system up just inside the garage door and save yourself from mopping every time someone comes in. Via: BHG – Cubbies for Kids

You can ensure your home is clutter free and well organized by using RockBirds T56 broom holder. It is sturdy and versatile allowing you to organize more than just the broom and the mop. It gives you the chance to hold up to 11 items: Five in the friction grips and six on hooks. You can pull the hooks down if you so desire or push them back if there is not need to use them.
If your drywall is in good shape, there’s no need to replace it. Just fill in the holes and dents and sand it over. “You can use a stud finder to look for studs for hanging shelves and hooks,” Eric says.
Installation is tool-less, easy and quick. Its broad, solid base provides optimal stability meaning it will not tip over even when large tools are stored on it. The broom holder has integrated holes at its top to let you anchor the tool rack to the wall. Although it can carry up to 30 tools, at times the weight may tip it over.
The one I got was green – it was horribly stiff and the corn bristles were very thick. A good number of individual bristles were bent over and twisted. This is not a good old fashioned broom. I have an old whisk broom from 20 or more years ago so have it to compare to and this is NOT an old time corn whisk broom. If you look at the photo of my old and almost out of commission one – you can see the color difference and the size of the bristles. It really makes a difference in how well it sweeps.
The Shark Blast & Scrub is a bit much, giving you a mop that can turn into a curtain steamer, an ironlike hand steam cleaner, a spray-bottle hard floor cleaner (the same as the Shark we recommend), and a dust-wand-style attachment (that, of course, also releases steam). As an actual steam mop that cleans floors, it’s fine, but not any better than the Pocket Mop we recommend. If you want to clean your curtains and other upholstery, read our guide to the best upholstery steamer. Shark’s S6001 Genius Mop, a variant of our upgrade pick, requires that you pump the handle to issue steam, and for $100, nobody should have to do that.
Cabinets are really not that difficult to install yourself and you can save a virtual fortune by doing so. You can purchase cabinets already built and then just hang them on the walls yourself. The cabinets are great for storing things and keeping the garage neat and tidy and depending on the size and number of cabinets that you get, you may be able to store everything away so that your garage always looks completely clean. Our attached garage is strictly to park the car, and as such, drywall is fine, maybe with a scrubbable paint. On the other hand, my workshop in the barn needs a better solution. One of my favorites is metal wainscoting part way up. Metal roofing or liner metal is fast and easy, and requires no further finishing. I’m also going to use it on the ceiling. I’ll probably put the wainscoting over OSB as a support. Some use good old pegboard for the upper part, although slatwall seems to be replacing it.
I liked this product so much I bought a second similar item (stupidly I didn’t buy this item again, my mistake) the second broom organizer had all these ranting 5 star reviews. Too many untrue reviews!! Once seeing that product compared to this one I realized I had been duped by people leaving 5 star reviews for products they didn’t actually pay for and probably didn’t use. I came back to buy this one again and update my review so hopefully someone else won’t make the same mistake.
