Nail the panels with 8d nails. Drive the nails snug with a smooth-face hammer so you won’t mar the siding. Drive nails straight, not at an angle. Keep nails 3/8 in. from panel edges and 2 in. from corners. Hold the side panels in place (don’t nail them yet) and mark them along the top of the rafters. Cut them to size and nail them into place (Photo 6).

One of the most common questions I hear when I am demonstrating my craft is, “What plant material is used for the broom bristles?” The material is called broomcorn (Sorghum bicolor). This plant is closely related to sweet sorghum (Sorghum vulgare), which is the plant used to produce sorghum molasses.  Broomcorn is an annual and, from a distance, looks like sweet corn in the field. Yet, upon close examination, there are no cobs, just a large tassel on the top. That tassel is the part of the plant used for making brooms. Other materials can be used for the sweeper of a broom, but we’re focusing on traditional corn brooms.

Frame the floor on your driveway or other flat surface with treated lumber using 16d nails or 3-in. screws, following Figure A on p. 49. Lay a full sheet of 1/2-in. 4 x 8-ft. treated plywood over the floor frame. Adjust the floor frame so the corners are aligned with the edges of the plywood, then fasten the plywood using 8d nails or 1-1/2-in. screws. Snap chalk lines at the floor joist locations to make them easy to find. Drive fasteners every 6 to 8 in. along the edges and every 12 in. in the field.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Shrubs to 3 m tall, with green stems and yellow pea-like flowers. Refer to the Brooms table for a quick comparison of distinguishing characteristics. The brooms were originally introduced as landscape ornamentals. Scotch and Spanish broom were also extensively planted along highways in some areas to prevent soil erosion in the early half of 1900’s. Brooms have escaped cultivation and have aggressively invaded many natural areas. Scotch and French broom often form dense stands that displace native vegetation and wildlife. Infestations in forested areas increase fire hazard and on rangeland, diminish usability. Flowers and seeds of brooms contain quinolizidine alkaloids and can be toxic to humans and livestock when ingested. Foliage may be mildly toxic and is unpalatable to most livestock, except goats. Scotch and Spanish broom are used medicinally in Europe. However, Scotch broom is considered to be an unsafe herb by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

I’m pretty sure the walls are plaster and so the deep scan will be needed. I got a deep scan model with live electrical detection (Zircon e50). But, I’m not really experienced in building construction, so I was going to upload an image of the wall. (But, it seems I need to install Flash Player just to do that. I’m already planning on installing it shortly, so I’ll have to post the picture a bit later.) Good thing you mentioned regular stud finders don’t scan deep enough for plaster walls. However, after I got the deep scan one (but before opening it) I noticed in the fine print it says not recommended for use on lath and plaster. If that’s true, what the heck does it take for one you can use on plaster?

Many of the most popular brooms in gardens are hybrids, notably Kew broom (Cytisus ×kewensis, hybrid between C. ardoinii and C. multiflorus) and Warminster broom (Cytisus ×praecox, hybrid between C. purgans and C. multiflorus).

eBay determines trending price through a machine learned model of the product’s sale prices within the last 90 days. New refers to a brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item, and Used refers to an item that has been used previously.

The locker’s 4 x 8-ft. footprint provides ample room to store space-hogging items like walk-behind lawn mowers and snowblowers. Long- and short-handled garden tools, lawn treatments and potting materials also fit nicely inside.

Our broom making equipment, technology and the use of broomcorn can now be found worldwide. Our broom industry flourished until 1994 when foreign brooms were permitted into the U.S., duty free. The remaining small factories struggle to compete with Mexican-made brooms, while individual broom makers like yours’ truly make a few thousand high quality brooms each year and tell the interesting stories of our history.

Hi Matt, I’m Ken with The Home Depot, welcome and glad you joined the community. I get this type of question at least once a week. Let me say there are several types of fasteners you can use to complete this job.

Acme Thread Connection Broom Handles connect to brooms, floor and garage brushes, squeegees, and general purpose wash brushes (available separately). They are available in various materials. Color-coded models help to protect against microbial cross-contamination by assigning specific colors to each potential area of contamination.

This mop has broken on me twice. There were problems with the springs. I will not buy another one. The first time – I thought perhaps it was user error. This time it was stuck again and I was unable to squeeze the water out. Now I am convinced it is a faulty design. Hope the concept is not oh the Customer will buy another one. Not going to happen.

Web beacons — web beacons are miniscule electronic image files that can be embedded within a web page or included in an e-mail message, and are usually invisible to the human eye. When used, web beacons (also known as clear GIFs or tracking pixels) may tell us such things as: how many people are coming to our web sites, whether they are one-time or repeat visitors, which pages they’ve viewed and for how long, how well certain online advertising campaigns are converting, and other similar web site usage data. When used in an e-mail, web beacons can tell us the time the e-mail was opened, if and how many times it was forwarded, and what links users click on from within the e-mail message. But a Broom-Stick, perhaps you will say, is an Emblem of a Tree standing on its Head; and pray what is Man, but a Topsy-turvey Creature, his Animal Faculties perpetually mounted on his Rational; His Head where his Heels should be, groveling on the Earth, and yet with all his Faults, he sets up to be an universal Reformer and Corrector of Abuses, a Remover of Grievances, rakes into every Sluts Corner of Nature, bringing hidden Corruptions to the Light, and raises a mighty Dust where there was none before, sharing deeply all the while, in the very same Pollutions he pretends to sweep away: His last Days are spent in Slavery to Women, and generally the least deserving; till worn to the Stumps, like his Brother Bezom, he is either kickt out of Doors, or made use of to kindle Flames, for others to warm themselves by.[13]

Spanish broom: Deciduous, summer to early spring. This species is considered somewhat less troublesome than the previous brooms. In its native range, stems and fibers are used to make baskets, mats, ropes, and paper. Flowers provide a yellow dye and an essential oil that is sometimes used in perfumery. Introduced from the Mediterranean region and Canary, Madeira, and Azores Islands.

In the context of witchcraft, broomstick is likely to refer to the broom as a whole, known as a besom. The first known reference to witches flying on broomsticks dates to 1453, confessed by the male witch Guillaume Edelin.[7] The concept of a flying ointment used by witches appears at about the same time, recorded in 1456.

Before installing the roof, place wooden panel plugs flush with the outside of the fascia along the front and the back walls. Drill pilot holes through the peaks and nail the plugs into place with 4d nails. The plugs conform to the shape of the roof panels, sealing the openings to keep out the birds and the bees. For roof support along the sides, install supports (quarter round).

I thought the design of the mop was great when I was looking at this mop in the store. I don’t want to get my hands in the mop water so this looked good. I’ve had the mop two weeks and used it three times to mop a 6 x 10 section of vinyl. First mopping: immediately found that too much water is left in the sponge and there’s no way to get more out of it First mopping: found that once squeezed, the mop head doesn’t return to a flat position on it’s own First mopping: found that the scrub brush is not positioned correctly. If you want to use it on the floor you’d need to bend over and hold the mop handle very low to the floor Second mopping, handle bent at the weak spot where the wringer handle is Third mopping (trying to get more life out of this pathetic product) mop head comes off while I trying to rinse it in the mop bucket. Gross…had to reach in and retrieve it. I’m looking for my receipt so I can return it. I rarely write reviews, or return products, but this mop is a joke.

In either case, you can save space between the bikes by alternating one bike’s handlebar position up, and the next one’s downward. Staggering the hook placement can also help get more bikes into a smaller area. Put that bike back on your Christmas list!
